It's going to be 85 here today! There's always been crazy weather though in spring....

I remember having snow in April once when I was traveling from Chicago to Pittsburgh when I was visiting my family...I was about 8 months pregnant with my first child and the train was delayed 9 hrs because of the snow. The trip took about 9 hrs normally. This was in 1971.

Wednesday morning. It's cold but the sun is finally shining which gives a deceptively warm scene when I look through the glass door in the front. I do hesitate going out the door however, because the weather channel says that the temp has actually dropped since the sun came up.

That said, I heard a good stat today which confirms, to my relief, what I have believed for many years.
" In a poll taken of 10 people, 9 out of the ten agreed that there is always 1 person who disagrees with the other 9."

    Have a blessed day.......Bobby

At 6AM, our temp was 37 degrees and tomorrow morning it will be close to 30. Today's high will be 55 and tomorrow 60. Our normal for March is 74. Wife had to wear her white winter coat to work this morning, with a winter scarf around her neck. We sure didn't move here for this kind of weather! However, Friday it will be 68 and Saturday 77. Next week, the lower 80's. Most likely, this Saturday, will get over to the boat and set up. Not sure about starting engine, but will get things put back on and boat cover taken off and brought home. Will keep the cockpit cover on it.

If we lived in northeastern Colorado right now, I would completely understand cold weather there. Actually, for the 5 1/2 years we lived there, the last snow came on Mother's Day Weekend.

Goog morning to all!!! I haven't checked this thread in a few days now. The early part of the day is when I do my gallivanting around, and I try to be home by 2:pm. I have until May before I have to shut myself in with the a/c going.

@Cody Fousnaugh you and the misses are truely blessed to be able to enjoy boating still. I haven't been in an inboard motorized boat for 35 years now, and I do so miss it. Last summer, I finally gave up any hope of boating again, so I let my half brother have the aluminum skiff, (the last boat we kept), that my boys and I used to go up and down our part of the San Jacinto river back in the 70's. The picture below looks much like the boat we had. It too had a Mercury outboard motor.

We hope to keep boating for at least a few more years, especially since we've invested money into our outdrive repair and redoing our stern where the outboard part of our I/O connects to,

We both love boating and love it even more now that the boat is in semi-Dry Storage and we don't have to launch/retrieve it to and from water.
BTW, we don't fish here. Had brand new saltwater rods/reels/tackle and sold it all.

saltwater fishing can be a lot of fun if you can go far enough out to sea. I was lucky enough to be able to do so for a few years. But I know I would never try such a venture in a small boat. My father-in-law's boat had a companion boat for getting to and from shore.

One day while out fishing, my husband suggested that we fish from the smaller boat, so we tied the smaller boat securely and set to it. It didn't work!!! I could see my F-I-L laughing on the deck of his superior position. It was the first and only time I almost got seasick, and it was the only time I got a sunburn.

But the worst thing about saltwater fishing as far as I could see was the cost. I couldn't afford the cost of the fishing rods to begin with. So I did most of my fishing in freshwater, where it was cooler, quieter, and much more in my budget. And there was the plus factor of it being more conducive to goofing off and having fun with my boys.

I've done some saltwater fishing from a dock and from a charted fishing boat a company I use to work for got.
The dock fishing was ok, but never caught much. A friend of mine and I done it in the middle of the night when there was no boat traffic in Balboa, Calif.. It was a public dock. He supplied all the fishing stuff.

The overnight charter trip was nice. It was out of San Diego and down to Mexico. Nice supper, while heading down, nice breakfast then fishing then lunch, little more fishing and then headed back. I had no trouble sleeping as we headed down, thanks to those years in the Navy. Don't remember if I even caught anything.

Plan on taking wife out on a 1/2 day fishing boat before we move to Colorado. I will fish and she will observe (her idea).

That's a cool thing for the two of you to do before you leave the ocean behind you. I hope you guys try to see a few of the inland sites. I've never been to Florida, but I've always wanted to go see the mermaid attraction. It's been there for many years, but I not sure of the name or where it's located.

I love Colorado, but I don't know anyone there anymore. I use to have a friend that lived in Denver, and visiting her was how I became familiar with the area. I lost touch with her, and when I tried to locate her I found out she had remarried, but I couldn't find out what her new name was. :( But I like Colorado enough that I went there twice on my vacation about 18 months ago. I stay there four days starting my vacation, and 7 days later, I spent another three days there before coming home to Houston. :)
