I'm not much of a TV watcher but everytime I come to my daughter's home in Texas I turn the TV on in my room and spent my down time watching HGTV. My favorite show on that Channel is Fixer Upper. I love the couple who do the Fixing Up and I love the way they turn those houses into Homes. Their show also is more realistic to me with prices, etc. than some of the shows. And I love how they incorporate their marriage and family into this show too.

I really enjoy most of the shows I have watched on this Channel. Anybody else enjoy this channel?

I live in a cozy Acadiana Cottage that consists of about 600 square feet and it is HOME to me and my Honey and I have no plans to move or redecorate it. But I love all the renovating, decorating, and the search for people's dream homes, etc. on this Channel. And I enjoy all the different places these things take place in. :) Maybe part of it is just enjoying seeing the talent people have for the things they do too.

I don't watch much TV at all, and only watched House Hunters many years ago but I'm basically done with any decorating or changing things...I want to downsize...I have 2,000 sq ft and it's just me and my dog.

There is plenty of downsizing ideas there too. In fact yesterday the Fixer Upper couple Chip and Joanna renovated a houseboat that I would have loved to move into and it was a small one too.

I find watching this kind of TV show much more relaxing than most of what they show on TV now days...and what they do interests me too.

The downsize plan is for me to have a mother in law house on my daughter's property, they are looking to move and a casita is one of the things they're looking at.

Until then I may just put some stuff in a storage unit and move into my room at her house...but all this isn't happening for another year yet.

In September the oldest is moving out to go to college...will definitely wait till after that to even move into my room. My room at my daughter's is away from the other bedrooms and has its own bedroom and TV and even a balcony I can sit out on that looks down on their front courtyard....but I'd still rather be in my own little place.

Of course the benefit of moving in with my daughter is that I can save at least $1,000 a month...plus live well...very well. With saving all that money I can do a lot of traveling and not even have to worry about leaving my house like I do now every time I go somewhere. Plus Pickles will already be living there so I don't have to drive to my daughter's before every trip I take to drop him off.

I was going to drop my TV from my bundle last year but they talked me into switching to direct TV as soon as that contract is up, no more TV for me...I just don't watch it all.

They keep calling with offers for 3 months free of all the movie channels and I refuse them because I don't watch them and I always forget to call after 3 months to cancel and I've gotten charged for it...they use every trick in the book to add charges. :)

That sounds like a wonderful plan, @Chrissy Cross , and seems like it gives you the best of everything, once you have your own small casita at your daughter's new home when they move.
We changed from comcast to DIRECTV about a year ago because Comcast kept changing things and raising the prices for our package, and Robin found a special at Sam's Club for DIRECTV, so we switched.
Last year, we were watching all of the election debates and other news and needed to be able to get Fox News, which is Bobby's favorite. Now, our first year is ending, and the price goes up, plus we do not watch much of anything on the tv anymore that Bobby cannot get with the entenna he installed last year. The price goes up almost $40, so I want to just cancel the subscription to DirecTV and Bobby can just watch the programs that come with the antenna or on the Apple TV box.
I like watching HGTV, but it is not one of the programs that Bobby watches, and I am always busy doing something else and seldom ever watch television at all. It is interesting to watch some of the remodeling of houses on there; but then it is liable to make me want to move, and that is not a good thing, so much better for me not to watch remodeling shows.

First, my wife LOVES watching tv. Actually, she likes the noise, being raised around two sisters and a brother. She really likes watching HGTV. Fixer Upper, Property Bros. and Flip or Flop. Actually, because of the divorce thing of the host couple on Flip or Flop, don't watch much anymore. Sometimes I like watching the shows, other times I'll find something else to do.

However, Chip and Jo did get some criticism for the church they attend. It was stated that the Pastor denounces gays and lesbians and the Producers of HGTV stated the network doesn't discriminated against anyone. But, have never seen a gay or lesbian couple on Fixer Upper. Property Bros. does have both.
There was also some news about Chip and Jo not liking homeowners renting out their "fixer upper". But, that has been taken care of.

@Yvonne Smith You just can't win with TV with these companies...I got so tried of being on the phone with AT&T constantly every time I saw my bill. No matter what pkg you choose you just cant win. You don't save that much when you cut it down to the basic local Channels and then you don't have much to watch and all you're saving is about $15 a month...

Once my contract is done so am I. I'm always on my iPad anyway.

Right now I'm paying $131 a month for my bundle and I have the package with 200 channels...this was my special deal with direct TV because prior to that with AT&T tv I was paying almost $190...

The $131 started out as $125 but somehow it always slowly creeps up.

We have both our tv and computer with Comcast. Right now we can afford that, but later...........? Can't have a satellite dish where we live. Nowhere to install it and it can't be installed on outside metal stairs.

Yeah, Direct TV is a satellite dish...mine is on the side of my house near my garage, you can't really see it.

I have everything with AT&T, TV, internet and home phone.

It's all a bundle and no real changes in payment method since AT&T bought Direct TV.

I only have basic for my phone because I never use it but I think something comes in through my landline, so need it.

I love watching most of the HGTV shows mentioned and I like to watch Flea Market Flip not so much for the competition to win the $5000 prize though. I like to see how they upscale the items the pairs find.

@Chrissy Cross I definitely think you would enjoy having your own place at your daughter's too separate from the bedroom and bath you have in their home now.

When I come to Texas I have my own bedroom and bath too. No one sleeps on this side of the house but me when I am here so I do have the privacy too. But if my Honey and I would move over here to help them out we would definitely want a separate place on the grounds where my daughter's home is. This is still a possibility in the next year or two but whether it happens or not...my Honey and I love our cozy Acadiana Cottage and it is home to us for sure.

While I enjoy watching HGTV during my down time over here, I do not watch much TV at home most of the time and will never sign up for cable or dish again...as I don't find it worth the cost and it has more sales channels, etc. than things we would watch on a daily basis.

Real couples on HGTV are putting their lives in front of the World and they are human just like everyone else. Their problems are open to the World too and if they aren't prepared to know this I'm sure it can be devastating to have to deal with people hating them for being human.

For me, I think Christine, in Flip or Flop, thinks she is totally hot looking. She does love being on camera. The episodes of the show they are showing are when they were together. A number of viewers say they won't watch the show anymore due to the divorce. There are other Flip or Flop shows besides theirs now, or coming. We use to watch a show call Flipping Vegas, but don't anymore due to language (bleeping it out) that the husband, and sometimes his wife, uses. Seems like they are always quarreling over something dealing with a "Flip".
