I have one of those dolls and not from Hungary but Russia. My husband brought it for me when he was there on business. All your pics of St. Petersburg remind me so much of Budapest and Hungary...another reason to cry, though I can cry without a reason. Love the "Cinderella" type carriage.
Here's my set, I'm surprised I still have it because it was a favorite of my 13 yr old grandson when he was little. As I recall, the ones that I saw in Hungary weren't cheap and even back in 2000 they were about $25!
Good morning from a cloudy St.Petersburg, overslept this morning, and feel a bit fuzzy with a headache, I need some coffee to wake up properly Have a great Monday.....
Good morning, world! While I have a break at work I've come across this link on you tube called 'Morning Relaxing Music - Happy and Positive'. that means good morning!
Well, it's Monday morning and boy did the weekend go by fast. Little bit of rain and too high of wind for boating (for us anyway). Went to our local Shopping Center yesterday and couldn't believe all the people eating at restaurants for Mother's Day. People lined up outside to get in. Guess Mother's Day is all about flowers and eating for mother's. Mother's Day and Father's Day isn't really that big of a deal for us. No kids or grandkids to celebrate with. People sure spend a LOT of money on both Mother's Day and Father's Day! Did watch an excellent movie last night called Hidden Figures. Three Black/A-A ladies who became math and computer wizards that worked for NASA. What they had to go thru, dealing with White America and the barriers they broke. Wonderful/Spectacular movie! Reminds us of the movie we have The Jackie Robinson Story.
Good Morning Everyone! Remember flying kites. My youngest granddaughter is just discovering the joy of flying a kite and we have a huge one we are bringing to the beach with us to fly. I hope I will be able to get some pictures of this and the joy on the grandkids faces as the wind carries the kite out over the ocean. Enjoy your day, be a kid again in some way and feel the joy of all the blessings in your life.
That looks just like the beach at my baby sister's vacation condo in Florida! For a minute I thought that was her pic, lol She has the same umbrella and blue chair!
Good morning everyone...I just realized that 46 years ago I was in a hospital in Chicago getting ready to give birth ..well not for a good many hours yet. I had more than 30 hours of horrible labor with my daughter but she was worth it but I wasn't thinking that at the time. No epidurals then...no nothing but a wet wash cloth that I would suck the water out of...things sure are different now. I also had natural childbirth but after all those hours in labor giving birth was a piece of cake. May 15th was on a Saturday and it was a nice day weatherwise and I remember looking out the window and wishing I was anywhere but in the hospital. I went in on Friday and she was born Saturday night at 5:52 PM. 20 inches long and weight 7lbs 6 oz. They also kept you in the hospital longer then but I wanted to go home after the second day. I had to sign a waiver to be let out sooner so I did. After I got home I realized that it was a big mistake, lol With my son I stayed the full amount of days allowed.
@Chrissy Cross My oldest sister came to see me have my first baby because they didn't have epidurals when she was having her four boys and she could not believe that I was not feeling any pain at all during my labor. This was really strange for me too to not have any pain at all but I had dreamed that I was not going to have any pain during labor and my dream did turn out to be true. The day before I had my first child I went for my weekly checkup with my OB and when he checked me I started spotting so he told me that if he didn't see me that night to deliver my baby he would see me the next day. The next morning I went in and was already five centimeters dilated...even though I had slept through the night without feeling one contraction! Since I was dilated this much they gave me the epidural right away and I never felt one pain the whole time my daughter was trying to be born. When she was ready to be born her head was big and my Doctor thought I might tear since this was my first child...so he performed an episiotomy. Still I felt no pain at all. Later after the epidural had worn off completely I felt pain where the Doctor had cut me and I could not understand why I was having pain after I had the baby but none the entire time of labor and delivery! Everyone had a hard time believing I went through this with no pain at all...but the ones who were with me testified to the truth of this. It didn't take me long to pack for the beach. We are staying at Waterscape...which is where my middle daughter always stays with her children. They have so much for the children right there in one place that after staying there the first time she was spoiled and never wants to stay anywhere else. It is a little more expensive but she feels it is worth it. And the chairs and beach umbrellas come with the rental. I am just happy to be able to go along and watch the joy on my grandkids faces as they play in the sand and water, etc. Hopefully the water will be beautiful and the weather nice and I'll get some great pictures!
You're about my age...how did you get an epidural back then? That wasn't even an option for me, they said they were dangerous.
I was 24 years old when I had my first daughter and they had opened up a brand new maternity ward at Our Lady of Lourdes with state of the art everything...and were giving the first epidurals in Lafayette.
