Has anyone been in touch with @Denise Happyfeet ?...I just had a look and it's over 10 weeks since she's been on the forum....I'm hoping she's ok and someone has been in touch with her ..perhaps @Ina I. Wonder or @Yvonne Smith ?

I know she comes and goes a lot and disappears for a while, but this is almost 3 months now...so I'm concerned, and I miss her happy posts

She is a facebook friend, so I have seen Denise posting on her facebook page. She was just on a fun trip that she posted pictures and it looked she was having a great time; so I think that she is just taking a break from the forum for a while.
I am pretty sure that Denise and Ina visit on the phone sometimes; so maybe Ina has more and better info than I have ?

    Hi @Holly Saunders,

and @Yvonne Smith, @Joe Riley;) I am doing fine, and @Ina I. Wonder and I were talking this a.m. and I heard you asked about me Holly;) I've missed seeing you, and many of the people on SOC. I have been trying to keep busy, and it seems to be the hardest thing when I don't have any schedule at all. I am still searching for at least a part-time job. I turned down a part-time job at a Forestry station in Oregon. I really would have loved to do it, but the 5th wheel I had to use for the Summer was way hard on me. They also wanted to send me up to the, one-and-only lookout they are using, but I was afraid it would be too isolated for me.

I do like the idea of seasonal work though, and will keep looking. I noticed my allergies all but disappeared in the dryer climate. Some other health issues also disappeared and not sure if that was the climate/elevation, or just timing;) Anyway, I am also looking for a place it is dryer to live. The weather is so moderate here I hate to leave it, but this town is so teenie also, not much to do, so I'd like to move closer to a larger city. Definitely I want to move out of California as well.

So that about catches (anyone that's interested) up with my goings-on;)

Here is a website that might help you to find a job and a new location both, @Denise Happyfeet . It is called "Innkeepers", and it has all kinds of caretaker jobs, from working at a motel or storage shed company, to house-sitting , or helping out at someone's house or farm.
To get all of the information, I think that you have to get a paid membership; but many of the advertiser include a website or email that you can contact them directly from their webpage and not need the paid account with Innkeepers.

    Thanks Yvonne,

First thing I need to do is find a place I want to move to, then I'll look for work. They do have quite a bit of volunteer work here, but again, such a small town that there is not enough people to meet. That's the way I feel anyway. I don't know how much I would participate in living in a larger, or closer to, a larger city, but I'd like the opportunity at least. I have friends in Arizona that are sending me info, and also 2, good friends in Texas that a encouraging me;)

I so wanted to just stay put, but when I moved here, I didn't have a lot of choices. Now I can take my time and look for more of what I want in a place to call home;) Dryer weather for sure, and I do love some hills close by, and more mod temps. I do love all, 4, seasons though;)

Thank you again for sending me the link. Um, I just noticed it's for couples though?? Did I get married and forgot?? More Gingko Biloba I think, lol;)

Heeeeyyyyyy denise...I'm delighted to see you mi chica...I'm so pleased you've popped in to see us.

    Thanks @Ina I. Wonder

Sorry tho' that you've not managed to find any kind of work yet, .I do understand how difficult it must be tho living in a small town, and yes I agree with you living nearer the city would be more ideal.

here I live on the edge of a small market town in the rural shires, but we're only 30 minutes from the metropolis...so ideal place...and we have 4 seasons too... now that's the type of place you need to find with luck!!..I really do hope something comes up for you soon but in the meantime, I'm happy to hear from you.

I've just returned from southern Spain....I'm like you and love the mountains and Southern Spain has loads and the 3 rd floor penthouse apartment we rented overlooking a golf course also looked directly onto the mountains too. From a distance they look as if they are just solid rock or forestry, but when you drive into them as we did on several occasions we found some hidden away tiny villages and even some small towns..incredible to think they're up there when you can't even see any kind of roads from below..

We have no mountains in this part of England.. *wales * where your ancestors are from have some stunning mountains too

here's a picture of the view from the rooftop solarium of our apartment in Spain....

I've got so many pictures of my trip to post , I'll do that in the next day or 2 on the photo thread...I hope you'll come and have a look at them I know how much you love to take photos and to look at other peoples' and how much we always enjoy yours too ... .. :D:D

The website is geared for a couple, @Denise Happyfeet ; but I browse through it every now and then , just to see if I can find something that looks interesting, and not everything listed there needs two people. I am sure that there are many more websites that cater to people looking for some kind of an enjoyable part-time job that comes with a home to live in as well.
There are also ministry jobs, like working in a ladies rescue mission, where a single person such as yourself might be just the ticket.
New listings come in all of the time. There is a sort by state option; so once you decide where you want to move to, you can always look and see what is coming up in that area.

Bobby and I have both said how much we would love to be caretakers at a campground or RV park, where there was a place to swim and maybe even a fishing pond.
Since it would include a place to live, we could do very well there, even though we do not get much for SS retirement pension. Then Robin could sell this house and not have to be bothered with it anymore.

    Hi Holly!!

I am really taking my time, and researching the different States, and areas. After seeing your photos, omg, if I could move to another country, I believe it would be Spain!! Gorgeous! And your patio/deck is so lovely!

Yes, your town sounds just right, far enough from the "fast lane" but close enough for more shopping, and I'm sure, a variety of things to do:) I do look forward to seeing more photos when you can get to it;) I'll be checking in here more often. For awhile, I just had my desk to sit at and I just wasn't as comfy. Now I got a new "laptop" pad and I am kick-back in my recliner. What a lazy bum hey, lol!!

BTW, I love those little, tiny towns you can find on the "back-roads". And seems like I meet the neatest people in those places. It seems like the bigger the city, the less people know their neighbors, but small towns, everyone knows everyone;) So sort of a happy, medium is what I prefer. Sounds like what you've got there, and I'll keep on looking;)

I knew that site had jobs for singles as well, I was just foolin with you Yvonne;)

I received so many "alerts" on job openings for camp-hosting, but all of the openings that came to me were for someone "with" an RV. But there have been listings for places that have dorm-type places for seasonal employees. They were so far from where I live now though, that it would have been a real hardship to drive all the way there. My truck is getting up there in miles, and I just don't feel as secure as I did when it was new either. So a lot to consider.

I'll figure things out, and I so appreciate people that are willing to help with ideas etc.;)

    Hi Kitty,

if daunting is the same as (or like) over-whelming, then yes, it is a daunting "project" lol!! I have it narrowed down to the States I would like to live in, but in each, one of the 3 States that are at the top of my list, there are tons of cities & towns;)

I have to admit I am not sure I will ever be content in any, one place. I am a lot like my dad. He was still traveling and visiting other places up into his mid 80's. He only slowed down finally, because of cancer. On the other hand, I think I would be very content right here, with all the nice folks I've gotten to know in the last, two years. If there were only a better selection for shopping, medical facilities/doctors, and the dryer weather.

When I was younger I could just move around with no worries, and not much thought as to what I was doing at all. Now I actually think things out before I jump, lol! It's not as fun dang it;)

    hi Joe,

thanks for the nice message. Lastnight I started feeling poorly and came down with some sort of cold or flu. I get sick like this rarely, and I am my own, worst patient, lol;) I wasn't up to getting on today, but I called Ina at least. She always lifts my spirits and encourages me.

Good to see you and the way I am attacking this thing, I am hoping I'll be over it and back to normal (like I'm ever normalo_O) soon;) Denise
