This baby child is not yet two, and she loves to sing at the top of lungs, and on top of that it's a song about an elephant from Sesame Street. It's been a long time since I've "had to" listen to such a blessed screeching sound.
@Holly Saunders now that you have retired, and you've gotten tired of just sitting around, , what cha gonna do? You'll have time to get ta all those things you told y'rself you'd do. In any of those plans did ja think to think of a pleasurable pastime? An' I don't mean sitten and staring a nothin. I guess you could just wing it, but you don't seem the type to do that for long. Hey I just had a thought, Is your hubby retired. or are you waiten for him?
Good morning to you all, I had a short night, waking at 3am and then finally 5am, but I feel OK despite it being another grey damp dreary looking morning here..... I have a few odds and ends to sort out today and then I need to start thinking about packing my suitcase ready for Peru. Have a great Friday ........
LOL..as I literally just retired yesterday , I haven't really given it much thought yet, but you're right I'm not the type to sit around for too long. No my o/h is a long way off retiring he's only in his mid 50's... and in the business he's in, very few people retire anyway regardless of age
Just to prove my words @Ina I. Wonder and @Yvonne Smith ..lol..... I have spent the morning (one day after retiring) bagging up so many clothes to go to the charity shop. Most of them work clothing..suits, tops, trousers, jackets, blouses..etc..and a few pairs of shoes)...I managed to fill 2 big sacks with 60 items... some of them never been worn and still with their price tags on. I could have sold loads on ebay because everything is in excellent condition and of course many still unworn...but I'd rather the charities got the benefit of the money ...and I'm not finished yet...still more clothes to go through....and my dozens and dozens of shoes, boots and handbags to sort as well...but that will be for another day... Now, I have to think what to do with all the redundant coat hangers. None of our charity shops will take them because they use their own ...so it looks like mine will end up in the landfill which is a shame!!
@Holly Saunders , well that sorta puts a kink in thingings, doesn't it? But at the same time, that gives you a bit space and time to get use to not working. After I retired, Michael said that I went from telling and managing over 300 employees to just two. Him and Young Mike. It did take awhile for me to relax, but our land and personal homes, (the cabin and the house Y.Mike lived in), became spick and span, and all the repairs were caught up within three months. I did slow down eventually, and that was a good thing, because I have a feeling that although they loved me, they were secretly plotting ways to disable me so they could get some rest. Poor boys!
@Holly Saunders , get on your computer, type in 'things made from coat hangers'. Who knows, maybe you'll come up with something that becomes a conversation piece.
OMG nooooooo....LOL>... I have wayyyy to much stuff to do to be worried about finding time to play about with coat hangers... I do understand what you mean tho' about going around still with your Boss's hat on after you retired.. I'm the same..I boss hubs around whenever I come home from work because I've still got my 'get it done' hat on.... and it'll take me a little while to get out of that..but hopefully I'll get everything in the house in a good place again, and things will all calm down. Hubs works full time of course (and he's the Boss at work too) so he doesn't have a lot of time to do stuff, although he does try his best on his days off to keep the maintenance of the house up to standard but now I'm retired...I've been going around the house thinking..right, we need that done..and this, and this...and this...LOL... I think he's shaking in his shoes at the thought of it. The day after we got back from Spain I had him put new back door patio curtains up.... and we both sepnt 6 hours mowing the lawns and cutting trees and shrubs... he returned to work on Monday..he's got this weekend off, and tomorrow I'm getting him to put a new handrail up in the bathroom which means drilling into tiles... Poor guy...he'll be needing another holiday before very long..
Holly, I was pulling your leg so to speak. Sometimes people just don't get my humor, especially if you can't see my face, but you seem to have caught me. No, coat hanger don't really have much use other than maybe as fuel for an outdoor fire pit, if they're not metal. I do understand perfectly, and it is hard to switch from 'full power and straight ahead', to 'what did you say something dear'.
Good morning to you all, it's 8am and another dull morning here, but it's supposed to improve later, I spent most of yesterday on the phone to numerous companies to get some affordable travel insurance and motor insurance, which is due while I am away. The problem with travel insurance because of my age and high blood pressure, I have to go through a long medical history consultation, before I get a final price, all the main companies I tried loaded the policy with around an extra $300 or more. I eventually found one which didn't load the basic price at all, called "Blue Bear" who I have never heard of but gets good reviews........ so I am covered for another year ...getting old can prove expensive in some areas of life, funerals especially, though I am not so worried about that....... Have a great weekend .......
Good morning everyone! @Holly Saunders , my daughter Julie has been in Majorca for a month teaching cooking classes and at a retreat in exchange for room and board. She's made a ton of fascinating artist and writer friends, has taken so many interesting pics., and fell in love with a musician in London. I've never seen anyone so in love in my life (we Skype). She'll be going to London next week. It's fun to see your beautiful pics and...OH!...Happy Retirement!! This pic, where my avatar comes from is me on the left and my sister on the right in Ft. Lauderdale circa 1955! I was born there, moved away when I was young, and often returned to visit family there. The print was made from a slide. Back then slides were good color quality, but color print photography was poor. So recently my sister sent me this print they made from the slide. Happy Fourth of July weekend to all!!
Good Morning and it's now July! Boy, where is this year going. Got our boat back and paid for. Were very (VERY) surprised at the cost of the repair/gauge replacement cost........low! Looks like they gave us a nice discount for using them since 2009. Wife has four days off for the 4th.......YES! Have pretty much narrowed down our "relocation" area to Cheyenne, Wyoming or Loveland, Colorado. Took a swim yesterday when wife got home..........nice and WARM water. Seniors love warm pool water. LOL
