I received a beautiful orchid last Tuesday from another person that is just as ignorant as I am about them. Do any of you know how I should treat this lovely plant? About the only thing I know is not to put them in dirrect sunlight. If I can get this one to acclimate, I think this could be another indoor hobby for me. I'm providing two pictures so that those of you in the know can maybe help me keep this little beauty alive.

@Ina I.Wonder I posted below the orchids from my place, and I 've got also the kind in your picture. They live well in subtropical areas, and I didn't need to do anything, except tying them to a tree trunk. As in my town it doesn't snow, I'm afraid they are quite fragile concerning winter time in the North Hemisphere. They like the sun, but they blossom here at the end of the winter, middle of August. After that, just leaves for one more year. However, we aren't lucky with tulips, due to the high temperatures. View attachment 17362 View attachment 17362
Wow!!! That is impressive @Clare Smith, I've never seen such a prolific stand of orchids before. The last time I was around orchids was in the mid '80's, when I was studying Hurticultue. There were many dozens in our college greenhouse, so I know they will grow here in Houston, Texas, but they were nothing like what you have, If you Have the time, I have been posting in, "Areogardens, I Love Mine", It sits ih front of a sunny window, plus it has four directional artificial lighting. Do you think my orchid would benefit from setting on the base of it? I would appreciate anything you can tell me.
I think so, Ina. I hope it works, specially because there are special kinds of them which just grow in greenhouses. I'll also check your post and take some pictures of my orchids now - it's winter time here. As soon as I have them, I'll let you know.
