Hey @Terry Page , I didn't think we would be hearing from you for at least another day. I hope you and Lisa are settling in, and have rested up. I'm sure you are having to adjust to the warmer, (hot), climate. The literature I've read say there are only two seasons, dry and wet. From what I read, it is now what's called the dry season. So what are the two of you going to see first? There is so much to choose from, such as Cuzco, Lake Titicaca, Lima, Machu Picchu, and Trujillo just for starters. I hope the two of you have a great time. Don't forget to take plenty of pictures, don't drink the tap water, and remember to carry extra bottles of drinking water while your out walking around. Ask Lisa if she would mind taking shots of the women's clothing so us ladies can see what the dress mode is there in Peru. Stay safe my friend, and remember us when you have the time.
Good morning everyone, its 7am here and through the apt windows I can see the sun shining on the mountains, I will take a pic with my phone and post it. Lisa is still asleep recovering from a bad night of altitude sickness, with continuous vomiting and she still had the headache when we spoke earlier. I have had a couple of coffees and fruit cupcake keeping up the mainly carb diet recommended, I feel completely normal at the moment, but last night as we climbed the last stone steps up to the alleyway where our apartment is, I felt like I imagine I will feel at 90, after each painful step I had to pause for breath before taking the next, ........I immediately put that thought out of my mind What we do today depends on Lisa's recovery but hopefully she will be back to normal soon. Enjoy your day.......
Thanks for your good wishes @Ina I. Wonder we are in Cuzco at the moment for 4 nights, and though it's the dry season it's pretty cold at night and in some places very cold. Here it's 70f during the day and 40f at night, Puno/Lake Titicaca is only 50f during the day and 15f at night. I will post some photos later as we move around. This is a map of our route
Hope Lisa feels better soon. Can she get an oxishot? Take it easy today..that's my suggestion. Ive been as high as 10,000 ft and always felt ok but you're higher there I think. Have fun!
Thanks @Chrissy Cross its around 11,500ft but it's down to luck really, a 25% chance of getting it, and not dependant on age or health, I seem to have escaped it hopefully, feel normal today, though my normal is fairly weird anyway
Yes, Ive heard It's just random who will get it...probably better Lisa than you since you're older. Just kidding.
Good morning! I'm at my daughter's where it's at least 25 degrees cooler which is good. Got the iPhone 7 yesterday because my 6 was draining battery too quickly. I don't see much difference between the 6 and 7 but I did get a better plan...$10 less a month and I get more whatever. I'm here for a few days then heading home.
@Terry Page ....still wish I was itty bitty in your pocket traveling the world with you...so glad you can travel like this. I have never coveted anothers life style...but I gotta say....Lord forgive me...cause I is jealous
Good morning friends it's 9:00 am here but only 6c (42f) we will venture out at 10am when it will be 20c. We are both experiencing a strange phenomena about time a day seems to be twice the normal length, I do several things go for a walk, do some shopping and so on, and it's only noon???? Lisa felt better yesterday lunchtime so we went for a slow walk around town visiting a church and a market and at the end of it 5pm, we returned to apartment had a snack and went to bed at 6pm, I got up once but we finally woke at 6:00 am after a 12 hour night, all very weird. We are sorting out our day now so I will post some more photos later. We are staying here for 4 nights to acclimitise to the altitude, then moving over the next few days towards Machu Picchu on the 13th which is at a much lower altitude.... Have a great Saturday everyone...
Good Morning. It's a good day to gather berries, don't you think? Photo by Sonya Adock. Location, Pennsylvania
Good Morning All Today is our anniversary and plan a nice dinner here at home. Gone are the hectic planning and over the top gifts. One year, at the very beginning of the marriage, I might have been a little slow to remember the 'day'. Figured I'd go for humor to deflect any problems. Found a old woven basket and put this items in it ( with a bow ). Items came from the local Gas Station: - SlimJims - Little Debbies mini donuts - a map of Montana - John Deere Key ring - tire pressure gauge Just junk you find on the counter as you check out. When she came in from work, saw this, I said " I Love You" with a big grin. She answered, " I'm semi-fond of you too..."
