Yvonne...is it very expensive for him to hire the plane? and does he have to do a certain amount of flying time to keep his licence? I think here in the Uk you have to fly a minimum of 40 hours a year..
I didn't ask him how expensive it was for him to rent the plane for an hour. Okay, I just asked and it is about $100 per hour. My grandson is now teaching students to fly, so he gets in a lot of flying time. Eventually, he want to be a pilot for a commercial airline, but for right now, this is getting him more flying hours until he gets enough to try for a better position. I am sure that he has to fly a minimum amount here, too; but since his job keeps him flying, that part is not a concern at this point.
$100 an hour isn't too bad considering it's a plane!! Also, very exciting that he wants to become a commercial pilot!!

Patsy I know the OP from another forum. I know Margate well, but I wouldn't have recognised it from the photos if I didn't already know where 'Jeff'' lives..
Yes, I told @Jeff Tracy about this forum. Happy to see that he joined, hope he likes us..we're somewhat smaller but I think friendlier than the other place. Nothing wrong with being on a few forums....most of us are.
I don't believe anyone inferred there was anything wrong with being a member of other forums CC.... This is much friendlier than the other forum because it's more intimate... and we all think we know each other fairly well.... I'm a member of about 7 or 8 forums and have been for years but there's only this and 2 others I post on every day
