It's called a mantilla I think but ours weren't long just a round lace thing in either black or white.
They did have the longer ones at one time too that was more like a scarf. I remember my mom often wore the longer one but my sisters and I always wore the little cap one and it was mandatory in the Catholic church at that time.
I never saw the longer ones in my Catholic School or church. My mom always wore a hat...she loved her hats.
I never saw those back then or don't remember. In Church..lots of hats on the ladies. I don't remember what I wore on Sundays at church but do know that at Easter it was a hat. My mom and her hats is a memory I'll share on another thread one day...don't want to take this one off track anymore than I have.

@Kalvin Mitnic, you seemed to be obsessed with race. I don't feel the need to know what race someone is, since a person of one race is as likely to be good or bad as someone from another. A person's religion and beliefs are a far more accurate indication of what we might expect from them than their race. By the way, you shouldn't be shocked to learn that I'm not impressed by what the Huffington Post has to say about anything. They only impress me when they make sense, but that doesn't happen often enough for it to be worth my while reading their stuff. If I felt the need to learn more about race, I'd turn to Wikipedia before I turned to the Huff Post. Meanwhile, please stop with the name calling. If a conversation makes you feel uncomfortable, it's much better to ignore it than to assign labels to other forum members in an attempt to shut them up. When you do so on the basis of a video they shared, that is particularly unhelpful. I know that I don't necessarily agree with everything that I share. Often, I share something simply as a matter of interest. Martin posts a lot of things that I don't agree with. Sometimes I say things that I don't agree with. So do others here. Given that thousands of Americans have been killed by Islamic terrorism, a degree of Islamophobia is not unreasonable, however. You don't have to feel that way, and I don't necessarily feel that way, but don't tell others that they have to accept something that may be unacceptable to them. Before you go there, yes, I am uncomfortable with white supremacists too. When Lutherans start strapping bombs to their bodies or flying planes into buildings, people might start to fear them too. Right now, like it or not, our country is at war with people who are mostly Islamic, so it would be stupid to refuse to acknowledge a potential threat.
