It's sliced and shallow fried or grilled, or covered in batter and deep fried ... and eaten mainly at breakfast time with eggs and bacon and baked beans & mushrooms & sausages ...although some people have it any time of the day...

a typical English fried breakfast... with black pudding

Sometimes it's served on its own topped with Sea scallops...

In actual fact in some of the most exclusive restaurants it's served with anything and everything... if you want it to be...

Do you mean as a side dish?

What do you call the bacon in a BLT? Slices of bacon or side of bacon?

@Holly Saunders ...you might like this...one of my grand daughters who has Asbergers...was here one day having a snack. When she finished she looked at me and asked in a British accent...may I perhaps have a bit more of your renowned chips and a spot of tea please. This kid cracks me up.

Well I changed it up today, Fiber One can get boring.

Scrambled one whole egg and a serving of just egg whites, threw in some real bacon bits and when done I dusted it with some Parmesan cheese. Of course Pickles had some too.

Just realized I don't eat alone as Pickles shares everything that is safe for a dog. :)

He sits next to me in the recliner while I eat and waits patiently for his share...sometimes I'll feel a drop of drool on my thigh. Lol.

Exactly, @Chrissy Cross ! Chipper shares everything that I eat, too, and he has his own little plate on the floor beside my recliner where i can give him a bite at a time of my dinner. He eats most everything that I do, plus he knows that if he leaves any of it then Tootsie will be sitting right there waiting to scarf up his food as well as her own.
Since Chipper is so old and can't eat hard food any more, I make sure that he gets enough soft food that he has enough to eat, and just give Tootsie (who is both young and chubby) a few nibbles so that she does not feel left out.
However, a couple days ago, I was eating smoked oysters, and Chipper completely turned his nose up at that and said "Let Tootsie have it " , which she did.

Pickles loves smoked oysters and so do I but that's a tricky one. For some reason Pickles likes to roll around in it first...so weird.

He doesn't do this with anything else. First time I gave it to him I dropped one on the kitchen floor, he took it to the area rug in the living room and rolled around in it.

So now I make sure he can't go anywhere if we're having smoked oysters.

I usually don't eat breakfast, just something when I finally awaken.
( maybe a slice of left over pizza from the night before )

But on Fridays, the hotel has a breakfast buffet for the employees for free.
Eggs, bacon, sausage, hot cakes, biscuits, hash browns, etc.
I won't lie, I'll 'pig out' on Fridays, and it usually holds me all day!

The hotel I work for takes very good care of their employee.
We have a buffet lunch ( free ) every weekday and as mentioned, breakfast on Fridays.
Won't mention the name of the chain, but the famous great-grand daughter is named Paris ;).
We get very nice discounts when we stay at any of the sister hotels.
As an employee, I am also an 'Honors' member, so that's a nice perk.

If I have more than coffee with half and half, I tend to have a small bowl of rolled oats seasoned with cinnamon and cloves and a tad of butter, or maybe once a month I will have grits with butter, and one poached egg. But I hate instant oatmeal or grits.

Now if I'm going out for breakfast or brunch, I never have either of my mainstays, mainly because they are of the instant varieties. So instead I will have two over easy eggs, three slices of bacon, and crispy potato hash. I'm not a bread person unless I have a sandwich, and that might be once every couple of months.

@Gloria Mitchell , I have lived in Texas for 64 of my 65 years, but I had never come across beans over potatoes until I spent a couple years in Oklahoma. I was amazed that it was a breakfast staple up there.

Well, Kid, it may be breakfast staple up here but I have never encountered it for any meal... Opps, Sorry Ms Mitchell. Thought Ina said that. Excuse.
