Even if we are not apt to ever really go, it is just so much fun to look at the different places and pretend we can go and visit.
I love water (although I don't want to drown, of course), I love swimming, boating, and even just soaking in a hot tub.
I have dreamed of being able to go on one of those Carribbean Cruise ships, even for just a few days. When I watch the videos of the luxuries they have on those ships, I think how much fun it would be , just to swim in the pool, under the stars in the evening, and then sit in the hot tub afterwards. Maybe have a late nite dinner afterwards at one of the ship's buffets.
One place that I think is very unique is the Poseiden Underwater Hotel. All of the rooms are on the ocean floor, and you can watch all of the fish swimming by outside of your bedroom window. It would almost be like actually being in the ocean; but you don't need a wetsuit and divers air tanks.
Here is a virtual tour of Poseiden....

I don't know if it could be called a dream vacation but I'd like to visit the Channel Islands. Ever since I created the categories for the Channel Islands for a directory I was working for, I have thought that I'd like to see them, but that is unlikely to happen. Other than that, I haven't had a strong desire to see Europe, Asia, or Africa. Australia is intriguing for some reason, but probably less so now than several years ago.

More of a realistic dream would be an Alaskan cruise. Although we may never be able to do that either, it is still within the realm of possibilities, as is traveling more than a few miles from the border in Canada. I have been in Canada several times, but never more than a few miles in. Everything seems to be clustered along the border for some reason.

I would opt for a cruise in the southern hemisphere, visiting remote islands, watching whales and looking at penguins. I would rather be in temperate or sub-antarctic zones than under a hot sun all day. I prefer places with few people and a lot of wildlife to places with a lot of people and a lively nightlife.

Oh my goodness, Yvonne, I am in love with the Poseidon Hotel and as a matter of fact I watched the short video twice...lol I also love the water and would opt for any tropical beach location. I have been to a few and believe me I am not fussy about where as long as the beach has white sands and the water is crystal clear. Of course, now that I have see the Poseidon, it would be on my list too :)
