I watched all 9 seasons of this: From Wiki: Foyle's War is a British detective drama television series set during and shortly after the Second World War, created by screenwriter and author Anthony Horowitz (Midsomer Murders) and commissioned by ITV after the long-running series Inspector Morse came to an end in 2000. The first six series are set during the Second World War in Hastings, Sussex, England, where Detective Chief Superintendent Christopher Foyle (Michael Kitchen) attempts to catch criminals who are taking advantage of the confusion the war has created. He is assisted by his driver Samantha "Sam" Stewart (Honeysuckle Weeks) and Detective Sergeant Paul Milner (Anthony Howell). From Series 7, a retired Foyle is working for MI5, navigating the world of Cold War espionage. Each episode is 90 minutes long, which was initially a watching challenge for me; however, from about the 3rd episode in, my spouse & I were captivated. The main characters developed a rapport, and a productive synergy resulted from their relationships. Foyle's War is an excellent character study. We fully enjoyed it. We watched it on Netflix, I believe that you will find it on Hulu, and perhaps on Amazon Prime. Happy viewing!
Not a fan of Detective dramas but Ive been on a British kick lately and 9 seasons is very enticing when you're a binge watcher! Thanks, I'll check it out.
Thanks for the suggestion. Have it queued up for later tonight when I have the place to myself. Looks like something I will enjoy. My favorites from BBC and the like, I'll have to order on disc. The 1971 " Upstairs, Downstairs" and "Rumpole of the Bailey" are two I can watch again. I started watching " EastEnders" in 1987 while stationed there, and always wished I could start at the beginning. Loved that 'Soap Opera'...
the episodes are on youtube. Ian Fleming came up with the 007 Bonds series from his work as an Itel officer for the Royal Navy in WW2
@Gary Ridenour Thank You. I have not checked youtube in awhile. Found them. Probably buy the sets from Amazon as well.
I have Rumpole, & have watched it all the way through twice. I hear Upstairs Downstairs is great as well.... someday for me I hope!
I love Foyles War, and Honeysuckle Weeks in particular. It is also exrememy true to life at the time. Upstairs Downstairs is a good series, but there is another one that you can find on Youtube that is just as good called Berkeley Square, if you download it though make sure you get the full episodes as some uploads are incomplete. There should be 8 full episodes.
