We never had one until I left home and bought my own. here in the Uk we pay an annual TV licence, the difference between the cost of the B&W licence and the colour one was quite considerable, so my father refused to pay it... I had to watch TV at my friends' house , and they got a colour TV around 1969 , they were one of the first in the area.. but I didn't get one until 1977/8 after I was married..

Are you a Saver or a spender?.....have you changed from one to another during the latter years ?

Most definitely.. I used to be a BIG spender till I married my Princess and now that we are retired, we are both quite the saver.... We try to use the idea when spending,....... "is it a need or a want"????
We now have a fixed income and must live within our means, not that we are deprived from anything, but still.....

Quite the interesting question so I will repeat it ...

I guess I have to say that I'm a thrifty spender. If there is something that I want and can afford, I will buy it. I don't see any sense in leaving all my money for my children. Let them go out and earn their own money. :D

Does the weather affect your moods? I find that gray, drizzly weather makes me feel more sad.

Definitely the weather has an impact on my daily activities as well as my emotions..
Winter and summer up here are totally different.. summer we are out all the time while winter we are in all the time..

Do you find lately the programs on TV have become very bad?"?
Most of the time we can't find a decent program to watch.. Either very violent or a repeat of a program we already saw.. We do have cable and we get about 150 channels and there is still nothing..

Oh yes it's almost all repeats on the satellite channels of ancient old programmes ( we have over 500 channels) not to mention the massive amount of 'reality' shows.....but we do get a lot of new stuff mostly drama or documentaries on the 5 terrestrial channels we have, particularly the BBC so it's not too bad. That said, I don't watch a huge amount of TV and I record everything I watch. I spend an hour a week going through all the channels, and setting the record button.

My 2 fave programmes currently are a show called Coast or country which is a show where the hosts who are estate agents find the dream home of a couple where one wants a home by the coast and the other has their heart set on the country. They take them to view 3 houses each and they choose the house of their dreams to match their budget. Often the one who wanted the coast ends up in the country or vice versa..it's a really relaxing show..showing beautiful homes on the coast or in the countryside

The other programme I love is 'Long Lost Family'...where adopted people or families of adoptees are searching for their missing families... It's a Uk show which has been running for about 6 years, and the USA has just picked it up this year for the first time, and I've been watching the US version. When they find their families after 40 or 50 years, I;m sobbing all the way through it.. the American people are so much more emotional than the stoic Brits lol

What's your favourite TV programme currently?

I wish I could find something on TV that was worth my time to watch.

Do you think that Steve will bag a bear this hunting season?

The Bachelor and the Bachelorette are both big jokes, imo. But they sure have lots of fans. Another site I visit has lots of threads about both shows, also lots of snarky posts. :D

If you really want to ROFLOL, watch 90 Day Fiance. Good grief.:rolleyes: Anyone ever see it?

    Arlene..
Unfortunately I never watched that show.. I feel like I might have a bit more intelligence than watching something like that...

Do you watch those "Soap Opera" shows that have been going for years and years???
I never watched them and both of my wives have never got involved in them either..

Gee Steve, thanks for the....... compliment. :p
    Lighten up.

No, I don't watch soap operas (but I did long time ago and even remember my grandma listened to them on the radio.)

Have you ever been to an opera?

Yes.. We have been to several operas and we enjoyed them immensely..
We saw the operas from the theater in Sudbury as it was live broadcasted from the Met in New York..

Almost every small town or even village has a public library..
Do you go to the library to borrow books??
My wife goes every other week and takes out several books, while I don't have the patience any more to read a book..

I live in a large city and yes, I occasionally go to the library - usually to browse or get a DVD. I've been a library supporter/patron all my life. Our library system has been #1 top-rated in USA for many years.

I'll pass the library question on for someone else to answer.

I go to the library occasionally but most of my books are on my Kindle. I can check library books out without going to the brick and mortar building.

We are all talking about hurricanes right now. Have you every been in a hurricane?

No.... Fortunately I never experienced a violent storm to that extent..
however I did run into a squall while on the water in my boat several years ago.. I had taken a boating course from the Power and Sail Squadron and I knew exactly what to do .. Naturally the course saved my life and I did what I was supposed to do..

As there are a few other hurricanes in the forecast, It would be a good idea to continue on the same question..
