My daughter has boarding kennels, and 7 dogs of her own ( my adored grandfurkids)... I have a recurring very realistic dream, where she asks me to look after them for 2 weeks, while she goes away on business...(which she does often)

I've looked after the dogs on many occasions, and do it very well...and I love them ...

But in the dream one week goes by...and I have the sudden realisation that, I have forgotten all about them, and not fed or watered or cleaned them out for a whole week.

I know they must be dead or dying, and I go into an utter panic...and at this point I wake up in a sweat thinking I've killed all the dogs... :(:(:(

Maybe now that you are "retired" you don't really want to go back to being responsible for "jobs" you used to do or take on responsibility for. :)

I was thinking that's possibly the case Babs..I was discussing it with his nibs indoors... and he agrees... I don't think it's anything to do with the dogs per se, because I would care for them at the risk of my life... however, I also wonder if because I'm not well currently, if the dream also incurs a feeling of not really being as responsible with my life and my home as I'm used to... ....I'm not sure, but it does panic the heck outta me when I have that dream

I think you have "nailed" it Holly. If you don't feel well enough to do your own "stuff" ....you certainly won't feel well enough to take on other's responsibilities either...and it would make you feel panicky if you felt you had to do something you just don't feel able to do at this time. Also it is hard sometimes to say "no" to those we love when they ask things of us but if you know you just aren't up to doing whatever they ask...then saying "no" is the best thing you can do for everyone involved.
