Like a church Christmas Concert. Driving around and looking at homes that are decorated for Christmas? Going to a Christmas Event in your town/city? I was thinking about it, looked online for it and found it.........local church Christmas Concert. We went to it the last couple of years and it was absolutely terrific. Full choir, small band w/horns and individual singers. The last song is King of Kings and Lord of Lords. Sure am glad I found where this concert is. There are some drive-thru Christmas Displays, but we're not into that as much as we use to be. There is also a church, some 20 or so miles from us, that puts on a heck of a Nativity Scene/Story. Live animals. We've been to this and perhaps may go back this year. So, do you have any plans on going to anything like this? TBO, my wife absolutely LOVES Christmas. I do to, but she really does. Most likely, on Black Friday, after doing a little more shopping, we will get our beautiful 7 foot lighted tree from our garage and put it up. After that, will come our Christmas Village covering our dining room table and other inside/outside décor. Any, of course, dress up for Christmas Eve/Candlelight Service.
When my daughter's boys were younger we always did Candy Cane Lane in Pacific Grove...it's famous for decorations. Also did "Streets of Bethlehem" years ago. That was neat. Everything was made to look like when Jesus was born...how a town looked like then. Even actors dressed and interacting with you. Their were stalls of what people made and sold at that time. The manger scene was neat too... There was even an angel hoisted into the air with invisible lines. But now I just go with the flow....whatever my daughter is doing...I do. When I visit my son, I do what they do. Two very different Christmas scenarios because of the age of the grandsons. No standing in line to sit on mall santas lap at my daughter's. Although different...I enjoy both. Last year I was at my son's so this year I'm at my daughter's.
Chrissy, you mean like this.........I'm on the left and my step-sister on right. Only time I ever sat on Santa's lap/knee.
Even our Siberian/Malamute Husky, in Colorado, got into the Christmas spirit when we took her to sit next to Santa Claus at a Mall. Looked for the photo, but couldn't find it. It was Meet Santa Day for dogs.
http://pontevedramovers.blogspot.com/2013/12/take-journey-to-bethlehem-this.html When my husband lived in Jacksonville, our first "date" was to "A Walk Through Bethlehem" ....and it was wonderful (although kind of cold that night). It will always be a cherished memory for us. Here in our City I don't think we have anything like that. But a few Churches do put on Christmas Concerts and there are a few tourist attractions here that really "light up" for the Holiday season. I'd like to think we might see or attend something during the Holidays this year....but we are becoming take "one day at a time" people so I won't know until or if it happens.
I'm sure we'll go out to Gaylord Opryland Hotel and walk about. We do it every year. From inside the hotel lobby
This year we're planning to visit a well known and popular tourist town in our general area. As such they have a downtown filled with many interesting shops and boutiques, beautifully decorated for the season. Along with that they also offer, at special times during the holidays, carriage rides, an outdoor Christmas market, and of course Santa with his live reindeer. Just an old fashioned Christmas... something you don't seem to see much anymore.
To us, Jacksonville just doesn't celebrate Christmas like we had it in Colorado. Of course, snow on the ground just adds "spirit" to Christmas to us. Denver, Colorado didn't have a Christmas Boat Parade and fireworks after, but they sure have a beautiful Christmas Parade downtown that we went to. Funny, but my wife told me last night, "we are definitely the Colorado and/or Wyoming type, not Florida, even at Christmas". I believe her.
No. I don't celebrate Christmas anyway. At least I'm off for the Christmas craft fair at the fair grounds this year. Last year I worked all 3 days with no energy to go before work.
I didn’t celebrate either during the years I was divorced. Just happened that I didn’t have a girlfriend during the Christmas Season. Either I’d break up with a lady or visa/versa right before Thanksgiving and on into Christmas and New Years. No decor, tree or anything. Just the way it was. Christmas presents? I bought my own and got thing I wanted and needed.
I will make a special effort to go to a place called Colosantis and Cindys this year. Both are retail but do a nice Christmas theme with lots of artisan type things for sale.
We’re not fancy, but we are trying to challenge a few in the neighborhood to put up more decorations. We have added several new young families, and I think they should have lights near them. This is our cabin. It almost lookes scary. I think it’s the Spanish moss. Makes it look like it rainy or something ...
No. Won't go out anywhere. All that's in my past. I may watch others celebrate if any of that is on TV, the extent of our celebration wil be the reef my wife made for the door.
I'd love to visit somewhere that has an old fashioned themed Christmas, like you used to see in the movies...
