    Frank..
If you had a sore leg and you couldn't walk at all and were in a wheel chair with extreme pain, you would go and see a doctor about it because you are inconvenienced by the problem.. Living the rest of your life in a wheel chair isn't an option.. You lost your mobility and quality of life..
You have a shoulder problem and you can function without using your arm too much.. The arm is a necessity of life, however you can live forever without having an arm.. Just adjust your way of life..
Now, you have both arms but you are in pain with one of them.. That means only one arm is functioning properly..
Is It possible that you are straining your good arm to compensate for the other one ?? Most likely..
Would you not like to have both arms functioning properly ??
You are still mobile and you can still go about your life this way, but not with a quality of life you deserve..

I had a similar problem with my right shoulder being full of arthritis and there was nothing to do about it other than a total replacement which I had.. It is now 14 weeks later and I have absolutely NO pain and have regained most of my mobility and I am working on building up the strength.. Actually, most of the time, I forget I had an operation a few weeks ago..
Finding out exactly what is wrong with your shoulder would be the first step to end your suffering which is totally unnecessary..
The decision is entirely yours, but again, think what you would do if it was your leg instead of your arm.. Chances are you would of had it attended to at the first sigh of a problem..

Please don't feel I am nagging about your situation, but actually I am concerned because I just went through a similar problem and I did something about....................................................
Besides................... I care that you should be in top shape and enjoy life...
Remember, getting old is a privilege that not everyone has....

My right shoulder has been aching today. I finally figured out why. Bubba got some of those egg shaped sidewalk chalks in his Easter basket. He wanted to mark on the concrete under the carport. He did that for a while then we wound up throwing them across the yard like balls. That kid can really throw! I was trying to throw mine further than he did his. I threw it as hard as I could, over and over. Now my shoulder aches. Poor, poor pitiful me. ;)

Not much to report about my shoulder as everything is OK and I am still getting stronger almost every day..
Absolutely NO pain or discomfort.. I haven't taken a pain killer in several months..
I am still in physiotherapy twice a week and will most likely be there for several more weeks..
Almost finished the mobility exercises and am now concentrating on building up the strength in the shoulder..
I can now easily pick up about 10 pounds with my right arm...................... Getting there !!!!!!!

Went to physiotherapy again today as I do every Monday and Friday..
I am now building up the strength in my arm.. NO more stretching as I have reached the maximum movement for the arm.. I am pulling weights from the wall and using the hand bicycle with some resistance..
Boy, what a work-out I get.. first some heat on my shoulder to warm it up.. Then I do the exercises and then I get ice on my shoulder to end it all..
About one hour each time.. After therapy, I MUST have a coffee so off to MacDonald's we go..
I come home totally exhausted after that..

    Not much to report..
I am still in physio and will most likely be there for a few more weeks..
Getting stronger slowly.. Building up strength is a slow process..

It is about 21 weeks since my shoulder replacement operation and I am still in physio twice week..
I generally go to physio on Monday and on Friday afternoon for about a 90 minute session.. I come out of there totally pooped as they are building back up my strength in the arm as well as the other arm..
I don't suspect I will be going for much longer as I am getting much better..
With winter here, it would be a pleasant break from travelling to physio twice a week on the Trans Canada highway to Espanola which is a 35 minute drive from our house.........

Now, my wife is going for an ankle replacement operation on the 12th of December and that means back to physio fro her for several months..
Wow !!! Winter travelling on the highway up here isn't the best thing, but if it must be done, I will do it for her.....

At my last session of physio, we (my physiotherapist and I) had a sort of a meeting and we came up with the conclusion that Dec. 1st will be my last session of physiotherapy..
It will be my 50th time and I think I am OK ..
I have about 95% mobility and use of my arm and shoulder..
I have a bit more strength to build up but that can be done at home with some weights..

Perfect timing as my wife is scheduled on Dec. 12th for her ankle replacement and she will be needing my assistance 24/7 ....

Perfect timing indeed Steve....you and the wife have it synced just right. I suppose after her surgery the round of therapy will start again or do they do therapy for ankle replacement?

Yes they do physio for just about everything today including ankles..
She will most likely be in physio for up to 5 months or as long as it its necessary.. Twice a week through the 5 months probably starting in mid January..
Good thing I drive an economical car which isn't hard on gas........
A Chevrolet Sonic is what I have......

Today was my last session for physiotherapy..
I was evaluated today and the results came out that I have just over 95% use of my arm and that is excellent..
There is still a bit of strength to build up, but that I can do at home with weights and exercises..
Boy, do I ever feel relieved that is all over..

I hate to say it, but I have nothing to report..
Shoulder is getting stronger with the daily activity of the house as well as some weights..
Don't ask about pain as there absolutely isn't any, even if I force it by lifting something too heavy..
Sleeping on it is nothing.. No problem....
The fact physio is all over, gives us a big relief from going twice a week out of town..

Now it is my wife's turn next week, with her ankle replacement, to take care of her.. At least I will be able to do it....

I'm off next Monday to see my doctor for the 6 month check-up for my shoulder..
I am doing 100% well and have regained almost all the strength in the arm..
Actually, I picked up a 20 pound tank of propane, full, which is about 40 or so pounds, and walked to my car with it.. Loaded it in the back, went home and walked to our patio to place it in the BBQ.. NO PROBLEM at all....

Most likely he will want to see me in one year from now for an annual follow-up..
