Out here in the rural area we live in we don't have much of a choice in Internet service providers. Cox is way to expensive for what they offer and I don't want to have to lock into 2 year commitments either anymore.

A couple of years ago in my research for the best bargain in Internet service I came across a website where you do have to buy the Hot Spot gadget...but then according to your zipcode...you can qualify for really inexpensive Internet service. At first my Hot Spot was with T-Mobile and they offered 4G (whatever that means) until you use all that up and then it goes to 2G until the next month's start up. This was costing me $30.00 per month.

This kind of service just lets me do what I call "the basics" which is checking email, researching, Facebooking, and being here on the Seniors Forum...oh yeah...my online shopping too. I can't stream movies, watch long videos, etc. but then that really doesn't matter to me. I mostly like to play on my computer and do research.

Anyway, I had been doing my research to see if there were any new services offered in our area and to my delight there was. I am now with the Sprint Hot Spot, the same 4G usuage...but for only $10 per month. I grabbed that up in a heartbeat and today I hooked up my new service since my old one with T-Mobile ends tomorrow. So far it is working just fine...and I have a big smile on my face just thinking of that extra $20 per month I am saving to play online. :)

For a few years, we used our Verizon hotspot as our ISP, including a couple of televisions streaming, etc. It was fast enough, and we had an unlimited plan that really was unlimited. Then they quit offering it to new customers, then began raising our rates ever year until it got to be more expensive than an ISP. Now we have a DSL account at home and a hotspot through US Cellular. Our hotspot sounds like what you have with Sprint. It's not as fast as our Verizon hotspot was but it can be used if we end up in a hotel without a good ISP connection or run into a glitch with our DSL but it's not unlimited.

I find the Hot Spots are just fine for me and I love that I can take it anywhere with me. I love just paying $10 a month for my Internet service too. :)
