Hi everybody I have spent the day decorating and relaxing alternately, Lisa has been having a few bad arrhythmia attacks recently, so went to get some pills to help stabilise her heart. I am sleeping better but if I doze during the day, I can't get off to sleep at night, so it becomes a vicious circle. In the evening we are watching a French thriller on BBC, which scares Lisa so we watch an episode of "The Affair" on Netflix afterwards to calm her down ....... The Affair is not a series I would normally be drawn to, but it's leads are both Brits who are good actors, and it is in it's third season with a 4th in production, so it must have something
It's 35 degrees over here this morning but at least the sun is rising and we will reach a high of 63 degrees before the day is over. For the next few day the temperature will be seesawing up and down...one night close to freezing...the next in the 40's. I'm not really like winter to much anymore since my body and bones do not like these up and down temps anymore either...and boy do they let me know it. Yesterday our Landlord came and changed out a duct leading to the vent in our livingroom...it was falling apart and had a big ball of insulation blocking off most of the air flow. Now that he has changed out that duct we should have better air flow in our front rooms for the heating and cooling and won't have to raise the thermastat as high as had to sometimes with the old ductwork. Last night my middle daughter called and let us know our grandson will be playing his instrument in his school's Christmas program on Friday morning, and our granddaughter will be singing in a Christmas Chorus on tomorrow night at Covenant church near our home. I will go with my youngest daughter to our grandson's program and then my husband and I will both go to hear our granddaughter sing. Next week our youngest granddaughter will have a Christmas program at the Mother's Day Out she attends and we both will be able to go to that one too. We always enjoy watching our grandkids participate in things. Have a blessed day everyone. @Steve North I hope your wife's ankle surgery went just fine.
We got the water heater installed this morning. Plumber was scheduled to be here at 8am. He got here at 7:45. I like it when people show up on time or even early. We have heaters with fans blowing on the floor; will have to make some repairs to buckled area. I don't know yet what it's going to cost. I don't expect it to be cheap.
@Sheldon Scott , I'm curious to know how you got 40 gallons of water out of the tank? I'm pretty sure it won't be cheap, too. @Chrissy Cross , $1800 for a water heater sound like highway robbery to me. I know things cost more in California that NC but that much more?????
They charged me $280 to replace the leaky flex pipe. I need to get some more estimates...they are a reputable company and are highly recommended. They installed my new A/C last year ...$5,000! Thankfully my daughter pays for these but they don't like being overcharged either. Same company quoted me $600 for a new garbage disposal...I found a neighbor who did it for the cost of the disposal and $50 labor.
$5000 for an AC is not that bad. But water heaters don't cost nearly as much as AC units. Does your neighbor do water heaters?
Believe it or not, the guy wrestled the full tank out the door then drained it outside. @Chrissy Cross that sound extremely high for a water heater. I'll let you know what mine cost when I get the bill. I just googled and this looks like the one we got. Add the labor cost for the two hours or so thhe plumber and it should be less than half of what they charged you. http://www.acehardware.com/product/...MIvZWAhZWJ2AIVloJpCh3-6A_rEAQYAyABEgLzsvD_BwE
Morning all... Our snow has all but thawed, just a little bit left in our back garden where the trees overhang and the sun can't get to it so much at this time of year... @Babs Hunt , it just seems like yesterday when my daughter was in her nativity play at infant school she always played David because she was the only one who could play a wind instrument ...I have those photos, she was only between 5 and 9 , and I look back at them and think it all seems like only yesterday... and now she's over 40... incredible. I hope you have a lovely time at your GD's Christmas chorus tonight... It's a beautiful sunny morning, and hubs now has a few days off work, and I had hoped to go shopping for a new mattress for my brand new bed which we had delivered over a week ago... and also to go and visit a Christmas mall which so far I've not been able to do this year and enjoy all the fun of that ....but I've got up this morning in too much pain and hubs has got a stinking cold, so we've called it off again...hopefully we'll both feel more like it tomorrow... Have a great Thursday everybody....and wishing @Gloria Mitchell a speedy recovery... and home soon...
This is my hot water heater @Sheldon Scott. It's in the corner of my garage and it's bolted because it's the law here because of earthquakes. That one pipe that is coming out of the wall where that mesh square is cost $280!
@Holly Saunders I'm sorry to hear you and your husband can't go out and enjoy some "play" time together...hope y'all both will feel well enough to do this before all his days off are up. It's a nice sunny but chilly day over here, it's my husband's day off and he will be mulching our plants and cutting the grass one last time before winter blows in all the way. I got my grandsons off to school for my daughter, stopped at UPS and mailed off the Christmas goodies for my husband's side of the family, and picked up two more bags of Christmas coffee. It's going to be a nice relaxing day over here...hope it's that way for all of you too.
Yep @Babs Hunt, after I get back from my physical therapy session, I'm going to start binge watching "The Crown"
