@Shirley Martin Jiminy Whizz! Now how could I miss such a well-enhanced query? She is feeling better, temperature around normal this morning, as I was trying with difficulty to crawl out of the "rack" (morning arthritis stiffness, 'ya know?), and I asked her about the day's plans? She felt weak, but a drive to Laughlin was warranted, for one of her "free-bies": a bottle of some Canadian high-quality whiskey! The Edgewater Hotel lures folks in with these free things, then hopes the clientele will feel disposed to piss away some dough gambling, thinking they aren't paying for the gifts! Well, she did. Got the booze, which will be added to an ever-increasing horde of whiskeys, wines, cutlery, pottery, cups, mugs, etc., filling our house to "hoarder" status. And yes, the whiskey cost forty bucks. But she is better. And I am glad. Frank
@Frank Sanoica , get her to share that "Free" high quality Canadian whiskey with you and you will be even gladder.
@Shirley Martin The bottles decorate the mantle, all unopened. I told her she ought to sell them! Frank
@Shirley Martin I pretty much gave up on collectible stuff long ago, after collecting some things that were bound to be absolute "winners". Like Silver, and Bank Savings Accounts. Surprisingly, things in short supply, such as Gold or Diamonds, do show promise for appreciation, but I have found that one "collectible" is better, ALWAYS better, than "money in the bank": Firearms. Especially scarce firearms. Especially firearms having an imperiled destiny promised by the politicians, promising to further "protect us". Once "hard backing" was removed from currency, the long-term value of absolutely nothing can be guaranteed by absolutely no-one. Consider this little-known comparison of "worth": As far back as 150 years ago, one Twenty-Dollar Gold-piece, containing exactly $20 worth of pure gold in it, could buy: a nice new Colt Pistol, or a well-made men's suit. Today, that same Gold-Piece can buy a nice new Colt Pistol, or a well-made men's suit! THAT'S stability of "value". Frank
FWIW, I am certain that I, too, now have the flu. Opposite symptoms to my wife's. She's pretty much over it, still feels weak. In my case, it started with build-up of mucus in my bronchial tubes, but not deep in the lungs. No fever, in fact it never went over 98.0 until today. Started two days ago. Now, the chest is much better, but it's all in my sinuses. Not as bad as some bouts I've had in the past, but strangely, it's difficult to point to specific symptoms. Some body pain, that's everyday, anyhow, nasal congestion, just an overall lethargic, weak feeling. Frank
I will also add thoughts that all those on the forum or love one's of those on the forum, recover quickly from this Flu. I received the flu shot like I do every year, but still had a bout just as Thanksgiving was apporaching. Spent that day working, and could only keep down some soup. Never coughed so much in my life. From what I have read and seen, it's a very bad strain. Again, hoping for a fast recovery for all.
Naaah, man flu is much worse. The poor dears suffer agony while us women just take an aspirin and keep going.
