I was reading an article about the snow you are getting and saw this pic....living in the US I thought it was cool to be sledding by a castle. Think I would enjoy that as a child. Even as an adult!!
Good evening all it's been another lazy day here, and very cold out at -24c (-11f) and -30c (-22f) is forecast tomorrow crazily though it might seem it's been too hot in the apartment at over 80f, that we have opened the windows at times to cool it down.... I did venture out to the corner shop and bought some veg to make a kind of cottage pie... We watched "The Meddler" on Netflix last night, starring Susan Sarandon who I like, it was a mainly a light hearted fun film, with a bit of a message I thought.... recommended!!
I couldn't stand to have the heat at 80 @Terry Page ...I set mine at 68 when I wake up and when it reaches that, I turn it off. After having the heater off all night the house cools to about 64. Thanks for the recommendation...will take a look. Drats @Terry Page ...I can't seem to get it on my Netflix.
Nevermind, I got a 7 day free subscription to Starz on Amazon video and it's on there. I know I'll forget to unsubscribe in a week but there are a few others movies I want to watch on there....think it's $8.99 a month.
Well I took the opportunity to drive up North today because my car hasn't really had a good long drive for months, and it was such a beautiful day and the snow seemed to be all down in the lower parts of the South ... It was just a beautiful drive like the nicest spring day and I saw the daffodils and snowdrops all blooming . I just arrived at my destination about an hour north from here, and down came the Snow... it was heavy for about 20 minutes , and then stopped as soon as it started, and the sun came out, all blue skies as well.. about an hour later the same thing happened. I drove back again in the glorious sunshine, playing the radio loudly like a summers day and the traffic reporter on the radio was giving out all these reports about jammed motorways further south (about an hour from here).. caused by the thick snow.. and there was I driving in the summer heat..at least that's what it felt like in the car, really warm through the window, so much so I opened the window while driving down the motorway at 70mph plus.. However soon after I got home the temps suddenly dropped and it was only 12 deg C in the house ( I had, had all the windows open)... so I've turned the heating on to 22 degrees C..so it's warming up now.. but I think we're going to get some thick ice tonight, there were signs all over the motorways and the B roads, warning that the gritters will be out at 7pm.. ( an hour from now) ,,and it's just getting dark so it always makes it worse then too..
Enjoyed "The Meddler" @Terry Page ....made me cry in a few places....but that's me, a cry baby. Thanks for the recommendation.
Good morning from a gorgeously sunny but very chilly St.Peter, from tomorrow it's supposed to get warmer which will be good, because we need to get out for some walking, staying indoors a lot turns me into a vegetable in some way (an unhappy cabbage comes to mind) and I feel my world shrinks Lisa is working this afternoon only and we have leftover cottage pie from yesterday, so no cooking to do. I will read some posts and catch up a bit .......... have a good great day ....... Yes "The Meddler" is moving and true to life in places @Chrissy Cross, pleased to hear you enjoyed it..
Good Afternoon everyone... .........we have thick snow, and biting winds ( not on the same scale as Canada obviously) but enough to cause Chaos to the country which is not prepared for snow in the same way as Sweden, Iceland , Russia or Canada in that we don't send snow shovellers out, nor do we use summer and winter chains on our tyres...plus our roads are so narrow , as soon as there's an accident on the very busy roads, then traffic comes to a complete standstill, sometimes for a very long time. This morning the TV reporters were talking to a guy in his car who has been stuck in his car for 15 hours, alongside hundreds possibly thousands of other drivers on the same stretch of road.. and only the kindness of local people who've packed up hot drinks and food have they managed to cope, but many of them are freezing because they don't have enough fuel to run their engines for short periods, but the reporter said that despite the emergency services driving past , no-one has come to help them... Anyway..it's freezing col here today..-5 at lunchtime and will be colder later and where we are is a kinda micro climate so we've got the best of the weather with just ankle deep of snow, and about 7 deg warmer than the rest of the south, East, West and North . We have a thick layer of snow, and... I lost my internet connection yesterday so I went out and took some photos of our local area..as well as some again this morning.. I've just downloaded them all so here's a few to start..I'll put the rest on the winter photography thread.. if I don't lose my connection again The farmers field down the lane Our lane.. Driving into the city..roads were extremely quiet of traffic
