I know that I have said, more than once, that I wasn't going to be a stickler when it came to things being put in the right places. By that, I didn't mean that I didn't care if things were in the right places, but that I didn't want anyone to be afraid to start a new thread because they couldn't figure out where to put it.

I still feel that way, but please try to find the right forum for a topic, rather than just putting it in Off-Topic Discussions or Not Sure Where it Goes, without first trying to figure out where it goes.

If you're going to talk about the weather or a tornado or hurricane, put it in the In the News forum. If you want to comment on terrorism or some attack that went on somewhere, the In the News forum might be a good choice.

If you want to say something about North Korea or any other country, the right location would depend on what you were going to say about it. If you want to comment on something going on there, it would belong in the In the News forum. If you want to talk about its history, then it would go in the History & Geography forum. If you are going to make a joke about it, maybe the Make Me Laugh forum would be a better choice, or somewhere else in the On The Lighter Side category. If you want to make a joke about something that's going on there, it could go either in the In the News or the Make Me Laugh forum, but not the Off-Topic Discussions forum.

If you want to talk about what it's like to live in a particular place, there is the Places I Have Lived forum. If you've visited but haven't actually lived there, then there is the Travel & Vacation forum.

Talk about obesity in America could go in the In the News forum if the reference is to a news report you've read, but probably the Health & Wellness forum or Diets & Dieting sub-forum would be better choices.

Anything about animals goes into the Pets & Critters forum. If it's a joke about animals, it could go into the Make Me Laugh forum. It would all depend on the purpose of the thread.

My point in all this is that I spend time every now and then moving stuff, but I am having trouble keeping up with it, so please try to put things in the right place.

Again, I would rather have your thread in the wrong place than to not have it at all, but I'd really love to have it in the right place. Each forum has a description that might help you in making that determination.

Cryptozoology and conspiracies would go in our Conspiracy and Paranormal forum, while science topics would fit into Science and Nature.

Well, if you're not sure where it goes, then that's where it goes, but if you can figure out a better place for it, that's better.

As a reminder, please try to post topics in the right place. In particular, try not to change the subject of a thread. If someone starts a thread in the food area about how much they love peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, and this somehow reminds you of a car you once owned, start another thread in the reminiscences area, or another appropriate part of the forum, to discuss the car. I want you to discuss the car, but not in a peanut butter and jelly thread. This is true even if you started the thread. There are threads where you can discuss pretty much whatever you want, and some of them are hundreds of posts long, but every thread cannot be about whatever comes to mind at the time. It just doesn't work that way.

There are instances when you might want to make one quick remark about something that might have been suggested in a post, and that's probably okay, but please bring your post back on topic before posting it.
