What Does Pi Mean To You?

Nuts? My good man, math is like reading the score of a beautiful rhapsody or a sonata so if you're nuts then we both belong in the same sanitarium! Love the stuff and am highly addicted................

I didn't understand Pi in grade school, either. Nor high school.

Well, I hope mine comes soon. I'm all adither.

 

My two homeschool children went to an International Pi Day event in our town. They built Scribble Bots. They had a wonderful informative time.

 

I think this is a fun thing to do with my grandson.

 

A quick calculation of Pi is 22/7.

I can remember Pi as 3.141592654, but usually round it to 3.1416 in my calculations.

I think they are a bunch of showoffs.

 

Frank, there is no formula for elliptical circumference...you just have to define the characteristics of the curve and solve it with differential calculus.

For AREA, I would set up the ellipse centered on the X-Y plane, use one of it's quarters, and add together the areas of an infinite number of tiny near-rectangles, then multiply by four. But, that's INTEGRAL Calculus. For the life of me, I cannot recall working toward lengths of curve segments, enclosed or not.
