Hello, @Linda E.G. , and welcome to the forum ! Western Washington IS a beautiful place and I am sure that you are loving it out there. I grew up in Northern Idaho, but I also lived in Washington State for many years, and really miss being able to see Mt. Rainier, and have people saying “the mountain is out today”, like that was a perfectly normal piece of conversation.

San Diego and all of CA is a hot mess...had to get out of there. Too crowded, expensive, fires, no water
But my daughter and 2 oldest grandsons live here so that outweighs everything else. All I can really complain about in Fresno is the hot summers.
But, like here in Florida, lots and lots of folks still live, work and retire here. Florida isn't our "cup of tea" any more, so moving next year. Was stationed in the Navy at 32nd Street, Long Beach (when the Base was there) and San Francisco (Yard period)and my wife use to live in San Diego. State of Washington, is like Oregon, in the Great Northwest.
