Howdy Doody, Today is the 24th Anniversary of the Wedding of my Wife and I. This makes a total of 45 years of married life for me and 24 for Judy. My first wife was not as enjoyable as my present (and final) one, but she did provide me with a lovely Daughter and 3 Grandchildren! We'll celebrate at our favorite Restaurant tonight! Hal
Thanks, Ladies, Judy will have the Tri-Tip Steak with a glass of Wine, and I'll have a rack of Baby Back Ribs with a "Super Stein" of beer. Hal
@Hal Pollner Congratulations to you both! Ya know, I realize it's personal and all, but I really would love to know what town that restaurant is in! Palm Springs? Frank
No, Frank...it's in Victorville, one of the towns in the Victor Valley area of the High Desert, at 3000 ft. elevation. Palm Springs is in the Low Desert at 440 ft. elevation. Hal
Happy Anniversary...belated but heartfelt. July 25th would have been 48 years for me...wow. I could have had a golden anniversary at age 69 for me...oh well, it wasn't meant to be. Of course I'm assuming had he lived he wouldn't have divorced me....I could be a b*tch sometimes.
@Hal Pollner I have been to Victorville several times, on our way to visit my uncle who lived in Sylmar. This was very long ago, 1960s. Seem to recall going that way to avoid the freeway driving all the way in to L.A. Big earthquake in, I think 1971, centered there (Sylmar), my uncle and aunt happened to be in Vegas. A large mirror on the wall above their bed back home toppled down onto the bed in their absence. Would surely have injured them. Convinced them going to Vegas was a GOOD luck thing! Frank Here is a pic of the damaged freeway bridges due to the quake: Aerial view of the damage suffered by the Newhall Pass interchange. Interstate 210 / Interstate 5 overpass collapsed onto San Fernando Road
We don't have to worry about catastrophic earthquakes from the formidable San Andreas Fault, because we live on the stable side of the fault, on the Continental Plate. If a gigantic movement along the San Andreas Fault should occur, the Pacific Plate would snap off like a soda cracker, causing much of California to dissappear under the Pacific Ocean. Then we would have Ocean Front property up here in Victorville! This is why I always feel relieved when we top the summit of the Cajon Pass, because then we're on the stable Continental Plate! Hal
@Hal Pollner Come to think of it, such a catastrophe might just solve the "splitting up of CA" proposition. Wondering how you feel about that idea, good, bad, or indifferent? Frank
