Someone flying over took this outstanding photo! I'll try to describe. At very top, the Colorado River, coming southward from Hoover Dam, can be seen emptying into Lake Mohave, a rather narrow and long lake, it being formed due to Davis Dam, seen near the bottom, where the lake "squeezes" down very narrow. Davis Dam is 1600 feet long and 200 feet high. Discharged from it's spillways the Colorado River again flows southward, along the ancient riverbed much narrower than before Hoover was built.

The highway seen crossing the river and running westward (left) across rugged mountains is route 163 which "tees" with north-south US 95, which comes down from Boulder City (NV). The bridge across the river was funded and built by Don Laughlin in 1987, and was a much-needed route to remove traffic which previously had to cross over the top of Davis Dam. On the left side of the river, starting at the bridge and going downward, are the 8 major resort casino/hotels which resulted from Don having started it all with his Riverside Hotel. Directly across the river from the "Strip" is Laughlin/Bullhead City Airport. The runway is 8500 feet long, clearly visible, to get perspective of the scale of the photo.

On the right side of the river, three large groups of many hundreds of homes is visible, the north end of BHC. The large whitish-brown large patch at very bottom of photo marks where the Mohave Electric Generating Plant stood for many years. It was coal-fired, receiving that fuel via a 275-mile long underground pipeline in the form of a water slurry. We watched them topple the giant smokestack when we were still "snowbirds" here, 2010/2011 winter. (see: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mohave_Power_Station)
