Cutie (27 y/o) has been taking Cosequin for a few years now, and that seems to help with her arthritis but, while it once seemed to nearly reverse the effects of arthritis, now she is still having some trouble walking or jumping. That's not surprising because she's something like 130 years old, in human terms.

Still, I'd like her to be as comfortable as possible. A couple of weeks ago, I was persuaded to try hemp oil. I give her a very small amount a couple of times a day. She seems not to mind the taste.

For the first week, I didn't notice any change, but now I'm seeing a change, only not the change I was looking for. It seems that she might be having a little less trouble walking, but the improvement is very slight if it's there at all.

However, she seems very much more alert, which was certainly not what I experienced when I tried marijuana many years ago, but it's there nevertheless. I can see the mischievousness in her eyes when she gets an idea that is likely to annoy Ella, such as taking one of Ella's favorite beds in a high spot, she's more playful and, although she still has some trouble walking, she is doing more of it.

Although she has always been playful every now and then, for a while, when I would try to play with her, she would just look at me as if she'd rather just be left alone. Now, she will at least take a couple of swats at whatever I'm teasing her with.

Before, when she even wanted to go outdoors, she would just sit on the steps or maybe walk to a tree, to lie there. Now, she walks all along the fence line, over to the tracks, checks out the space under my shed, and sometimes even climbs the fire escape steps to the upstairs window where we used to have a cat door, back when we were letting them out whenever they wanted to go out. There are too many critters walking the abandoned railroad bed now for that.

Our weather is nicer now too, so I'm sure that has a lot to do with it, but the change in her alertness can't be missed.

Anyhow, the hemp oil is definitely helping, and I didn't really expect it to.

I wanted to follow up on this, to point out that the hemp oil really does seem to be helping. She will be 28 years old in a few months so nothing is going to turn her into a kitten again, but her eyes are clear, with a lot of life in them. Rather than lying in her bed, she loves being outside and walks around a lot more when she's out. Inside, she's climbing to what I refer to as the high places, which had been Ella's domain for a while now. She's eating more. She's playing, and she picked up on an old tradition we had where she would bring me a toy in exchange for carrying or sliding her around in a box, which I refer to as "box time." She had quit doing that a few months ago but restarted it.

I love that it's giving her some more quality time. It may not extend her life but it's certainly making what she has left of it more enjoyable.

LOL hemp oil is not exactly like pot smoking Ken ..but hey not knocking the hemp oil at all. i know many including a daughter that now uses that. I am
thinking of getting this myself to help with a few things. I am trying to determine how one knows you're getting the Real thing, vs some watered down
    crap ola ?

That I don't know. I was talked into trying this after a conversation with the guy who owns the higher-end pet store that I go to for more variety than I can find at Petco or Petsmart and, since I am liking the results, I think I ended up with the real thing.

Is this CBD oil or just regular hemp oil?

It's labeled "hemp oil" but it has 11.3 mg hemp oil and 3.3 mg CBD per dose. Here's the product.
