Well, it looks like Mr. Pickles can socialize just fine; and I am sure you would be having a great time, too, if you do decide to go to the curves luncheon, or out for some other social gathering, @Chrissy Cross .
Our lifestyle right now is pretty full. Both of us are still working, but we sure fill the other time with as much activity as we can handle. We do a fair amount of spontaneous stuff, like dinning out, a concert or just a drive to a close by town, walk around and spend the night. No children living at home, no pets, so if the urge hits us we are gone. Our target is to both stop working around November and just enjoy the Holidays, and start our retirement. If I see 'boredom' rearing it's ugly head, I'll just beat it back with a "let's have an adventure" stick.
same as us almost exactly Tim...except of course I took early retirement 12 months ago, and I'm still figuring out where my niche lies. Hubs is only in his 50's .. so no retirement for a long time if he stays healthy please god... ..... but otherwise everything you've written applies to us...
Boring well you tell me, my day up early hay and feed livestock and dogs take them with me unleashed, do same late afternoons, tale 2 mile walks most days any weather, fish 2-4 days a week taking others, shoot pistol matched all the time not just think about it, ride my horse weekly, cook for neighbors most Sundays pm, on the go daily todays trip cancelled for storms or be gone now, semi care taker for my doctor after the accident (spent almost 2 years almost full time), go to K9 meets monthly, love to help others as needed, so bored not at all, not any. I have my dogs and can shoot or fish every day if I wish to.
I lead a fairly boring life and that's just fine with me. Boring means peaceful and low stress which suits me fine. The previous 30 odd years were roller coaster and enough to drive a saint to drink. I'm not lonely and have plenty to keep me occupied.
@Jane Smith Compared to a number of us here, you are still a youngster! Thus, use prudence and tact as you meander the future.....remember, you have 30 years not yet experienced, 30 behind you for good! Frank
Jane is the same age as me....I'd like to think I had another 30 years to go ( with good health) but I doubt it...
I don`t get your point Frank. I have 63 years behind me and who knows how many ahead of me. My future seems just fine to me as long as my health doesn`t get worse. I have a roof over my head and enough to pay the bills and put food on the table. Compared to the majority of the world`s population I`m rich.

My lifestyle is boring to most others, because my hobbies and interests are way out in left field! For example, I like Astronomy, and have spent over $25,000 on telescopes, eyepieces, filters, and accessories over the past 20 years. I also like building high-voltage Electrostatic Lightning Machines, my largest developing over one-million volt discharges. I enjoy reading about and watching documentaries and videos of Atomic Bombs. I enjoy owning and shooting guns. I enjoy Classical Music, and I play some light classics on my piano. These interest me, and if they don't interest you, then it only proves that .......? Hal

It all depends on what you're used to doing with your life on a day to day basis, as to whether you'd find someone else's way of life ''boring''... Boring needn't always mean tedious in that real sense.. For example I'm somewhat of a hedonist if it's out there to try..and it gives an adrenalin rush then I've almost always been up for it.. yet by the same token I love to just spend time alone walking in the fields, and woods, taking photographs.... I love to dance.. I love music... and I love to travel... ..perhaps the woman next door might hate all that and just like to sit and knit or do crafts or make jams ..for her that wouldn't be boring... ..to me it would be hell. I would go out of my mind... ... but my lifestyle might be boring to her!!
