Apparently, this is just a bad year for wasps in many areas, which seems odd because it was such a cold winter last year, and you would have thought a lot of them would have been killed. Anyway @Babs Hunt , I was reading in one of the facebook posts about the wasp invasion , that people are killing them with a combination of dog flea treatment and canned chicken. The flea treatment must contain “fipronil”, and it works on all of the meat-eating insects, hornets, wasps, and yellow jackets.
The way it is used, is to put the can of chicken in the blender and mush it up good. Then, use a disposable stick to plastic spoon and stir in the flea treatment. Put it in bait cups and either hang it in trees and bushes (where it can’t be reached by kids or animals), and the wasps will gather it, take it back to the nests, where they will all eat it and die.
One person put the bait in milk jugs and then cut quarter sized holes so that the inspects could get in and back out again, and nothing else cold get the bait.
Anyway, it is something that you might try and see if it helps, Babs.

Ironically, we had a shortage of all wild bees this year and they emerged much later than usual this year. Curious!

The name of the place we ate at is The Half Shell Oyster Bar and Grill. We shared appetizers of fried green tomatoes and crab cakes, and some hush puppies. Then everyone ordered a different entree. I got seafood stuffed portabella mushrooms with cajun parmesan potatoes and steamed broccoli and for dessert Key Lime pie. The Birthday girl had seafood pasta and for dessert Bananas Foster cheesecake. Everybody enjoyed what they ordered and I took half of mine home to share with my Honey. He enjoyed it too.

Since I don't eat out to often it is a very pleasant experience when I do...especially when I am with family. :)

We have had bees, which is a good thing because they pollinate the plants. It seems like we don’t have as many of the wasps and hornets and yellowjackets as we always used to have back in Idaho, and I am glad of that.
Those little critters always have a bad attitude, and since they are meat-eaters, you almost can’t picnic in the summer without them all gathering around the food.

I haven't seen many wasps since I've been in Maine but we've had a lot of bees on our flowers this year.

That's interesting Holly I always think of Bangor the oldest city in Wales, never Ireland, I guess because it's only around 140 miles from here and I have been there many times. ;)

It's been a hot muggy day here and I have been gardening again, there is a lot to catch up with before I leave again ;)

    Have a good Wednesday...

Katya and family are still having fun in Croatia..

No I haven't @Holly Saunders , Lisa and I planned to go a few years ago, but Lisa needs a visa for Ireland because it is not in the Schengen zone, which entails having an invitation from a resident, plus loads of paperwork, including bank statements etc., so sadly not worth all the hassle.:(

It's just starting to dry up after a night of rain.. and hubs has just taken delivery of a few tons of top soil, and bark and other stuff for the gardens. He has some time off ( it's also a holiday weekend here this weekend, 3 days) ..but he's going to be off for a week or more so, we 've got more landscaping to be done before autumn gets here and rain... and while he gets the time to do it..

    Have a good day everyone..

Still rainy and cool here. MY wife is at the Fair today for the crop judging, and I am left to fend for myself. She wants me to build a small table for her perennials, so that will be my afternoon project. Three grandchildren are arriving tomorrow, so the parents can go moose hunting and maybe caribou. Mom also is working at the Fair.
