    Three jobs attempted today.

    1. Golf cart. Wish I had checked where that puddle of gasoline came from while it was wet. Couldn't reproduce it. I don't see anything wrong with the fuel lines, as far as I can follow them. I think the filter and hoses were replaced just 4 years ago. Don't have a clue.

    2. Garage door opener. Found a loose wire on the opener. That got everything back to square one, so the door just wouldn't go down. Could not align the sensors. I think one is bad. Green light would never come on, but fastening that wire allows you to bypass the sensors and use the button on the wall now. At least that's an improvement. Opener is 24 years old.

    3. Fence. Saved the best 'til last.

There are only two electrified wires out there---one on top, and one near the base, of the field fence---to discourage dogs from digging under, or climbing over. Touching the fence and a hot wire gives a much stronger kick than just standing on the earth and touching one.

Checked both underground insulated wires again. The new one produces 300 volts. Checked older underground wires at another gate---both 100 volts. I never checked this before. It was just a fluke that I ever tried it in the first place. Wish I hadn't now. Started walking the fence.

This is what squirrels do to insulators and insulated wire, when there is no current on it. They chew on them. This was a 15 year old black coated underground wire for another gate to the perimeter fence. The new wire I bought does NOT have this white under layer. These wires have to be replaced now. :( I forgot about the damage squirrels can do.

Best part. Tree on property line crossing over to the inner fence.

Started sawing limbs off that tree to see what was in there. Chain came off the saw. While putting it back on, got stung on the stomach by a yellow jacket. I think the neighbors are gone for the weekend.:D I should go back out there before Monday, and see if I can finish this. (Long story)

But right now I'm thinking I'll call my old fencer and see if he will remove this tree, and the tree in the back, and do some fence repairs. He often has a partial crew looking for something to do. And I should call the folks to come get the golf cart.

But I have to wait until Tuesday.:p I'll lose my momentum for making the calls by then.

Nancy, guess where I was yesterday? Finally, I was talked into going to a GA game. Boy, was it hot and we were packed into that stadium like a can of sardines! Grandson didn't look too happy after the long walk from the parking deck in the heat! LOL Athens has some beautiful old homes. And the Frat Houses just looked like one big cocktail party!

Wonderful picture, Pam! Thanks for posting.

Seems like the sun burns your skin hotter in September. I don't think I could have taken it in the stadium yesterday for a whole game. You're a real fan. lol Next game is a big one.

Got enough of that tree sawed off and cleared out today to get around it with the Ez-Go (golf cart) when that gets fixed. The tree is a little too thick for the saw, and too high to safely cut off any more I think. It's actually not touching the outer fence, just looping over it now.

Why do this? Mostly because it's really good strength exercise, and a fun challenge.

Oh my gosh, you did all that tree removal today in this heat? I vote to leave the rest (does not seem to be touching the fence). It will start decomposing and should be easier to remove then unless it starts sprouting new growth. It's never ending! You be careful in this heat.

It *was* a bit warm out there today. LOL Went through 2 dripping headbands. They are drying out on the dashboard of the truck.

I know most people think it's crazy, but it's just so much better range of motion than doing machines at the gym, and you have a job to try and finish, so you push yourself more. I'm trying to fight this old age thing. Ha!

From now on, I'm going to start saving every job that can be done in the winter, for the winter. Otherwise I'll just sit around over the winter. No more tree cutting or hedge trimming until winter.

I really do like your picture at the game. You look great. Your grandson looks taller than you. How old is he?

He will be turning 13 in a couple of weeks and yes he is about 4" taller than me now. We have always been very close and we are trying to teach him to become a gentleman (thus him carrying my seat cushion)! But I have forgotten how to deal with teenagers and their many mood swings! LOL

I agree with you about doing a project that requires some "muscle work". I bet I run up and down these stairs about 30 times a day and pulling weeds is better than doing a hundred "squats" at the gym! LOL

Well I started cleaning out the basement today. I made up my mind I would not get sentimental when I opened totes and saw all the drawings that the kids did in preschool, etc. The son and daughter could care less about all this stuff. I was strong and now I have two Home Depot Contractor Bags full of useless stuff. Also made a trip to Goodwill! And I am only half way done. I feel like the "Queen of Totes"! I did run across two scrapbooks I made when in 9th grade and then my senior year. They were a "hoot". Back at it tomorrow.

Good for you, Pam. Be strong. Check back here and let us know when you get it done. We'll put pressure on you to finish. LOL

Right now I would need the Home Depot Dumpster bag, instead of the contractor bags, the kind they haul off with a crane. Just read about those, by the way. There are all kinds of hidden fees involved. Nope.

Got the closet drywall up today. Next step is to clean out all the mess and tools in there, and make some room for a different kind of mess and different tools, then start the mud.

Oh yes, the head of one of the screws broke off and is sticking out of the drywall, because I hit it *exactly* on top of a nail underneath. YouTube videos suggest fastening your drill around it like a bit and try unscrewing it. I might have to dig out around it. This happens to me more often than you would expect.

    Good luck with your decluttering!

That sounds like something that I would do!

Back to cleaning out the basement. Got the back of my car loaded up again to go to Goodwill. Found a large tote and it had bank statements and tax return copies from 1970/1980/1990! I almost sat down and cried! Back to the shredder again! Oh Lordy!

Well good for you, Pam! One more trip and sounds like you've got it under control!

Except for clothes, if I want to get rid of anything good enough for Goodwill, I only have to put it out on the front lawn with a Free sign. One time I put an old lawnmower out there in the morning and it disappeared minutes later. Then I went to lunch at the Waffle House, 3 miles away, and there was a pickup sitting in the parking lot with my mower in the back.

I have tax returns dating back to 1975 in a box in the attic, I think, and boxes of cancelled checks from when they used to send you those. The problem with my stuff is that the things I could throw away easily don't take up much space anyway, like books and papers. You wouldn't notice if they were gone or not. It's the big items, like scrap lumber, and now drywall. I hate going to the landfill. They change how you do it there, and where you go, every time I go. Some times you have to drive out into the trash heaps. I got a nail in a tire once doing that.

Went out to check on Rusty, it was to be a quick trip and back today. Got there and there was no water again. What's going on?! Everything seems to be breaking at once. It does come in spurts it seems.

Called the well man, and this time he won't be out 'til Friday morning, but said he *might* drop by this evening on his way home to see if it's something simple. So I stayed until about 7:00 pm. He has never charged me a penny for both the times he came by before. I almost begged him to send me a bill. He always says he will, but doesn't.

Rusty has over 20 gallons of water left in the trough and buckets. He will be fine. But had to go buy a gallon of water for the hummingbirds. Don't want to miss feeding them just before they are about to leave. Today I saw 5 females, but no males. The guys must have gone partying to Central America already.

This is getting too long. Always happens when I just start typing.

What I worry about is the Social Security numbers. You have to be very careful they do not get out there!

Up until about the time I retired, I had my SS number printed on my checks, because it seemed like everyone asked you to write it on them anyway, and your driver's license # was the same back them. You used to be able to buy things on eBay with a personal check. A guy I bought an antique oil lamp from on eBay took the time to send me an email telling me I ought to take it off, and I did.

Did you get the water problem resolved for Rusty? Yep, the humming birds should be leaving soon. Can you imagine that long trip they make every year? I wish I had the strength of a humming bird!:p
