Techincally speaking... they are both wrong. The more accurate term would be a consortium of private investors led by Cerburus Capital Management controls Albertsons Investor Holdings, which has a 90% stake in Albertsons Companies, Inc. The current company Albertsons Companies was incorporated under Delaware law in 2015 by the consortium, at which time an IPO was considered, but then withdrawn. There was another attempt that fell apart due to the Amazon/Whole Foods buyout. There was a 3rd attempt at an IPO earlier this year but was withdrawn due to the Rite-Aid merger.

That a consortium of private investors led by CCM has control of Albertsons Investors Holdings can also be misleading, as Delaware law states that 2/3 of voting class shares is required in any action by shareholders. As long as any group controls 1/3 +1 vote of voting class shares, they have effective control, as they can block any action.

To summarize... I don't have a clue as to who runs this outfit.

Does it really matter much? I still hate "Big Business". Mom and Pops were the spinal column oif America; their backs are now broken, forever.

Not to me, as I don't shop at any of those stores. It is a bit of fun to read about. A couple of things I failed to mention. 1. There appears to have been 2 functioning companies at one point... Albertson's and Albertsons Holdings. A product of a sale of stores and then a re-merger. 2. The rite-aid merger may be clouded as Bond holders of pre-merger Safeway have demanded Safeway be declared in default. Sounds like a field day for lawyers.

Agreed, and understood! The Bar has a most aggravating habit (IMO) of generating business based on already existing business: a self-perpetuating abyss for those litigated against.

We shop Dollar Tree for baby lotion (which I consume daily for my mixture of lotion, hydrocortisone, and a third constituent I won't reveal), no I don't drink it. Arthritic Psoriasis, causing very localized itching, is thius held at bay.

I shop at a grocery store called Ingles. It's only in the southeast. Not the cheapest in town, but it's on the way to where I travel often. That's the only reason.

We also have an Aldi's. I've been in it twice. I didn't think much of it here in Noeman. It's a smallish store. I mention this to a friend in Cincinnati and he said Aldi's is not some little store, they are an international power house. They may be but not here in Norman and in Norman, I don't like their location. It's difficult to get to. I'll stick with Crest Market, al family owned company with eight or ten stores here in central Oklahoma.

Super markets, small and large, are starting to display Christmas stollen, gingerbread and the like again these days and even earlier. "Customers want it that way.", they keep saying. The real reason is commercial, though. Is it the same at your end, I wonder?

Trader Joe's always has their gingerbread mix in from late September til around mid-November. Berkeley Bowl has stollen and those weird cookies year round. Have yet to see anything in the major supermarkets (Lucky, Safeway) yet.

The local Aldi has had seasonal speculaas on the shelf for about a month.

We are also in the midst of our annual pumpkin spice epidemic!

Everything from coffee to doughnuts flavored with pumpkin spice is being pushed in the stores.

It was a picture of the cookies to give others an idea of what they look like.

Was. So you had second thoughts about it? It's because it doesn't seem to show. At least I can't see it.
