    Did you know the Germans were the first to implement this change I believe in 1917, and then we Brits were the second to follow in 1918.?

    Most of the public were dissatisfied with the daylight saving changes, so finally in 1968 during Harold Wilson's government, they changed it back to normal Daylight hours, , after a Poll was taken of the public views in 1971, it was discovered that although 50% were for keeping it, 41% were not.. and the complaints about children in the very north of Scotland going to school in the dark because it didn't get light until 10am, and postmen working for hours in the dark meant that the government took the decision to to change it back... annoyingly...

    @Holly Saunders
    Bounced like a rubber ball! Still, it reflects actual government concern for the will of the majority; very little of that going on around here in recent years!

    Doing good this morning with the eyes. Actually, had to turn down the brightness on the tv. Yes, things, including tv, are much, much brighter and colorful now.

    As all of you have noticed, I am posting again. I want to say "thanks" to Ken for allowing me to return. This forum, as most of you already know, it much, much to interesting to completely say "goodbye" to. I will definitely try, and I mean really "try" to watch what I do as a thread and reply/replies. Guess some things are just better not put into a thread by me.

    It's cold and very windy and rainy here... brrrr, 1deg c, currently, with a max expected of 9 deg... I have no intentions of going anywhere apart from my warm cosy house.

    Have a good day folks...

    Sunny and in the 80's here again for few days. Trees have turned colors and leaves have fallen. By end of the week will drop back down into the 50-60 range.This Sunday the time changes and I dread it, but whatever.

    9 F./-12.8 C. this morning, so it is a bit nippy outside. It has been lightly snowing for the last two days, but not a lot has accumulated here. My son down the road has 8" on the ground at his house though. Winter is late, but it seems to have finally arrived. I will have to get the tractor out this afternoon and do some last minute chores before it becomes impossible. My wife has spent a lot of her time decorating for Halloween since we got back from our trip, and we had granddson's birthday party on last Sunday as well as our twin son's birthdays next Monday and a Halloween party on Sunday (belated). "Grandma" has invited each of the Alaska grandchildren to pick out a pumpkin and she will help them carve it for the party on Sunday. When all the festivities are done, she will start Thanksgiving decorating, then on to the biggie--Christmas! The sun is almost up and it is going on 10:00 AM, so the darkness is upon us as well. Life here will slow to a crawl once the election season is over next week, and we will curl up until winter is over in late April.

    I hope everyone is having a good week so far!
