Yeah, I don't like that. Taking money from us so that they can use it to pressure the states, who are more likely than the federal government to have our interests in mind.
I believe the block grant system was started by Nixon. It allows the Feds to dictate to the states what they want done, and the states are too timid to stand up to the Feds and lose the money. That is how the speed limits were set nationwide and how the national drinking age was set at 21. All presidents have used it and it unfairly taxes larger states and generally benefits smaller ones, a process that is unconstitutional but who cares if the bureaucrats want to do it. It applies "rules" that apply to all states equally. Connecticut and Delaware are treated the same way as Nevada and Alaska, hardly equivalent entities.
For the most part I am happy with him. He has done what he said he would do and that in itself is a huge deal. He has balls like no other who has held that office. He is a business person and that is what we need. Clearly this country has been run into the ground in recent years. Things are changing and they are - for the most part - changing in a good way.
From what I'm hearing, their time on Facebook, Twitter, etc. is coming to an end. The closer to 2020 it gets, the more will be deplatformed.
I made a list of things that Obama promised while he was campaigning. There were ten things on the list. At the end of his presidency, I checked the list. Not a one of them was kept. I remember that one promise was to deport all illegal immigrants. His aunt was an illegal immigrant. She was not deported.
How do I feel about The Trumpster now? Better than Ever! Donald can do no wrong, and has accomplished more in his two years than his predecessor had done in eight. Hal
When we see so many upset with Donald we know he is doing the right things especially when you look at who is the upset crowds, love it!
Those guys I highlighted, you admire those guys, Hal? Seems you might. Hope I'm not being a nattering nabob of negativism. Here's your chance to denounce them.
I’m not at liberty to say that Hal actually admires such people but in his defense, I do have to say that they were leaders of tremendous stature. I think that Hal is more or less in the same realm as President Trump was when he said that Putin was a great leader. Trump has certainly made it clear that he does not like the way Putin does things, but still, he runs the country with a very unrelenting and steady hand. If one also references the fact that during the Obama administration, the Christmas tree was decorated with Maoist type decorations but I do not believe for an instant the B. Obama subscribed or subscribes to Maoist communistic overlording. Or, maybe he does but I cannot read Obama’s mind either. The same as I truly believe that Napoleon, Hannibal and Alexander the Great were all great leaders, I can also say that they were tyrants and had millions of people killed for their own lusts for power. So, until @Hal Pollner answers for himself, that’s the way I see it.
