Well, being that she feels the same way I do about different things, like tattoos, etc., she would be told things like I've been told. She says she doesn't need that or want that.

Fair enough and nobody's forced on a forum ....

It's like me posting that Pickles thinks it wrong to brand animals. :). Why are people so cruel? Woof woof.

Cody: "To many city people, what is done with livestock on a ranch or farm can/is considered hurting them. But, those same people can sure like to buy steaks at local grocery store or restaurants."

I lived on a working farm & horse ranch in rural Wisconsin. The first lesson I was taught is Don't Make Friends With Your Food.

Absolutely right! Unfortunately, many young kids in 4-H and FFA, do just that, but once they get a Blue Ribbon at a Fair and the "pet" get sold at the Fair auction, most of the time the young kid understand why they were raising their special hog, steer, sheep or other livestock and get over it. Raising to show and sell.

Yeah Cody. There was a steer there who kept on crashing through the electric fence at night and we would get phone calls from neighbors telling us to pick up the steer, he just walked past their home. One day at dinner I realized I hadn't seen the steer in a while and asked about him. "You're eating him." He tasted better than he behaved, poor thing.

I wonder if the same thing applies to people who wear hockey pucks in their ears and the rings in their nose?

When I see a person with a ring through their nose, not on a nostril, it looks like they should be chained to something. Why don't they realize that?

Well I don't eat that much meat anymore, not for the reasons above, just don't care for it that much. Tastes have changed especially with beef.

    Still like poultry.

I know it's for identification @Cody Fousnaugh ...just think that branding especially both sides must hurt a lot!!

Best I get on with my day and not think about it.

Ive been thinking about it and guess I have been hypocritical in eating meat, and I'm not ready to be a vegan.

    But...it's tough to think about...

Most of those who were raised either on a farm or ranch or near one, understands, where you wouldn't. But, like other folks that weren't raised around or on, it's understandable.

Not to go "off topic", there are lots of people who love hunting and then there are those that are totally against it. We don't hunt, but support it anyway. We love seeing a nice head mount or complete body mount. But, this is for a different thread.

Yes a diffrent thread but I just want to add that my husband was a hunter but I only think it should be done if you're going to eat the meat.

We never did but my husband gave it to his friends because I don't like the taste of game and wouldn't let him bring it home.

Don't like heads of animals mounted on a wall......:(

Also....hunting is needed because Ive seen some towns overrun with deer, etc.

One was a town called Elk Grove Village in Illinois.

Don't like mounts....…...definitely don't visit a Bass Pro store or some sporting good stores, such as Sportsman's Warehouse in Aurora, CO. The store is full of mounts, as well as sporting things for sale. We love going to Bass Pro and Sportsman's Warehouse as well as any kind of Outdoor Sportsman's Show in a convention center. Went to such a show in Anaheim, Calif, which was full of all kinds of hunting mounts.

IOW, I'm very, very lucky I married a lady that likes this stuff.

My husband's best hunting buddy had a houseful of mounts...even lamps that had deer legs for the base.

    So Ive seen my share.

    He was a bachelor. :)

Ive seen plenty doesn't mean I like them. I guess if the meat was used for food and the head mounted...you can't argue that but just to get a head for a trophy isn't right in my opinion.

Ive been in many sportsman type stores while hubby was alive...his favorite store was Gander Mountain. At least I think that's what it was called.

Luck, or choice? You were attracted to her for good reasons, I'm sure.
