Well I was set to go out but now I have to wait. While I was typing the above post, Pickles was chugging water...grrr

Will give it a half hour and let him out.

I like the name Pickles. Wasn't that Morey Amsterdam's wife's name on the Dick Van Dyke Show?

I'm going to have a very busy week starting today as I go babysit two of my youngest grandkids. Tomorrow my daughter will bring me our grand baby and I will be taking care of him for awhile now that he is taking some bottles instead of just breast feeding. Thursday is the youngest grandkids Christmas program at MDO which my Honey and I will go to. Friday I will be making sweet treats for our Family get together on Saturday.

Since we had all the traditional dishes at our Thanksgiving get together, we have decided to do a shrimp and crab stew (for all the adults) and chicken and sausage gumbo (which all the grandkids asked for) for our Christmas meal, along with tossed salad, potato salad, garlic bread, and rolls. Our dessert will be our Happy Birthday Jesus cake and whatever other sweet treats others decide to bring. We usually have our Christmas get together on Christmas Eve but that just isn't possible this year and the important thing isn't really when you get together....just that you do get together.

Life is full of surprises, some good, some not so good...but life is a gift to be cherished every day. I hope all of us cherish the gift of life today.

    Morning all...

It's the first sunny day in over a week, and I really would love to go out, but for the last few days I've been poorly, so I can't..frustrated is not the word given that the forecast for the rest of the week is rain... *sigh*

Wishing you all and myself a better day than yesterday ....

Good morning! It's raining! Wasn't in the forecast the last time I looked so was surprised to hear it early this morning. Temps are also chillier, only 59 for a high.

Hope you feel better @Holly Saunders!

I'm not 100% and have to push myself to get going.

Feel like I'm coming down with something but then it goes away. Just achey I guess.

    Have a great Monday everyone.

It is chilly (38) and foggy outside this morning, and the weather channel says we have a dense fog alert. It is supposed to get up to 53 today; so once the fog burns off, it looks like we will be chilly but sunny.
I am feeling much better, but we are going to wait a few more days before we go back to the fitness center, and even then, I will be taking it easy with my swimming.
I really miss going to the fitnesss center and my daily swim and hot tubbing, but still feeling pretty exhausted.
Bobby and I have been playing with the new facial recognition iPads, but until we get the protective case/stand from Amazon, we both decided that we will still use our Generation 5 iPads with the keyboards for most of what we do online.
Robin is working out of town again, but will be back before Christmas, and she is going to come over for Christmas Dinner with us. We are not going to have a big meal, just the turkey and basics, plus some potato salad just for Robin.

Dunno what to think about today as in, “Gosh, is it going to be a good one or a bad one”?
If a recent event that took place and if indeed, nature has a way of foretelling the near future I’m in for an event filled day.

About 20 minutes ago I placed a pile of shelled peanuts on the squirrel feeder because the squirrels were standing around and waiting for their breakfast.
All was going well. The squirrels were taking their turns at the feeder, always one of two waiting for the former to finish his / her meal. All was quiet. All was without incident until:
One squirrel was quietly dining when a huge Blue Jay flew down and violently “nailed” the one sitting on the squirrel feeder!
It wasn’t as if the Blue Jay wanted some nuts because he flew off squawking to a higher branch. Dunno.

Is it nature’s way of prophesying some form of impending doom? Probably not. Just some pesty Blue Jay wanting to be the boss or.....is it?

    Have a great day all ! :)

Blue jays and squirrels are natural adversaries. They live in the same areas and they compete for the same food.

Yeah, but then why did the Cardinals suddenly appear a half hour later who also formed a coup d’etat ?
I run a peaceful peck free diner here and if one of these guys come back wishing to stir up trouble I’m going to have to give the squirrels permission to start concealing.
That’s the trouble with my neighborhood. To many thugs.

I have seen a couple of cardinals here, but that's about it. I guess it's just not a Catholic neighborhood.

    Good Morning Everyone! :)

Yesterday my granddaughter who's 4 years old called me and asked me if I would help her make some of my banana bread bundt cake that she loves. Of course I said yes and then I loaded up everything I use to make it and headed to her home where she got out her step stool and I helped her learn how to put the recipe together and bake it. She and I were both so excited to be making that sweet treat together....and it came out perfect. When it was cool I sliced a few slices and my granddaughter put those slices on paper plates and then served her mom, brother, me, and herself a piece....which we all enjoyed and complimented her on her excellent banana bread bundt cake. :) She couldn't wait until her dad got home from work so she could serve him a big slice too.

When my daughters were little we always made Christmas cookies together. I would help them cut them out in different Christmas shapes and then put out different icings, sprinkles, etc. so each one of them could decorate those cookies the way they wanted too. It was a very special time in our lives and yesterday making that banana bread bundt cake was so special too. :) I wish I would have taken pictures but I was also babysitting the baby and taking pictures was just the last thing on my mind. :)

Another very special thing that happened yesterday was that I got to give my grandson a bottle for the first time. His mom breast feeds him....but now she is putting some of that milk aside so he can have a bottle now and then when she needs to be away from him for longer than a few hours. His dad gave him his first bottle...and I was blessed to be able to be the second one to feed him one. What a special day I had yesterday.:D

Today will be special too as I will have just my baby grandson for most of the afternoon here at our home. So I will get to feed him from a bottle again and we will have some one on one time while his Mom enjoys some fun time with the two older ones.

I hope everyone has a special day in a very special way! :)
