I just now tried blending up the oats that I had soaking, and ended up with about a pint of oat milk, which I had flavored with vanilla and a little bit of sweetener. While it doesn’t exactly taste like oatmeal-water, it is not as rich tasting to me as the almond milk is, and it also needed a tiny sprinkle of sea salt.
As far as nutrition goes, it looks like each has a different balance , and the oat milk has twice as many calories/carbs as the almond milk, and a little more protein . I really don’t see any reason to switch over, because I think that the almond milk suits me just fine, but at least I can say that I tried the oat milk.
I think that it would work fine along with the protein powder to make my protein drink, or even as the liquid in a smoothie. While I am not particularly fond of just drinking plain almond milk (or even coconut milk), I definitely think that I like the flavor better than the oat milk.
End of experiment. Here is the nutrition for each of them.

I wonder if the oat milk will thicken slightly as it sits.

I don't think that I would care to drink it but it might be a good substitute for cows milk in baking.

I don't really enjoy any of the milk substitutes but I do use almond milk to help bank my carbs for other more exciting foods.

I do enjoy a glass of chocolate almond milk made with Hershey's Sugar-Free Chocolate Syrup.

A couple times a year I say to heck with it and have a glass of ice cold cow's milk and a slab of chocolate cake or a brownie. That's about the extent of my wild life!

It is sitting in the refrigerator to chill, after I had a taste to see how it turned out. I will let you know in the morning if it thickens at all. I didn’t read anywhere that it would thicken, but I didn’t filter it either; so it still has the fiber in it.
I don’t think that I want this in my morning coffee, I really only like real milk or cream in coffee; but I think that it would be fine if I am making a protein drink.
I do that sometimes before we go to the fitness center.
My cardiologist said my heart is doing fine again, so if the weather cooperates, we may make it to the fitness center finally tomorrow.

Here is the report on the oat milk experiment. I am not apt to be making it again. No, it didn’t thicken up overnight, or at least not noticibly; but it just doesn’t really have much of a flavor.
Not that almond milk is very flavorful, but it at least has some taste, and looks all white and creamy after I make it.
Oat milk would probably be fine if sufficiently covered by something like cocoa, to actually add some kind of flavor, or as part of a smoothie, which is what I actually ended up doing with it.

Since I got the new Nutri-Ninja IQ blender, I just had to try it out and make myself a smoothie. I added spinach and kale (baby size) , a ripe pear that needed used up, a bit of plain yogurt and a dab of protein powder for more flavor and nutrition, and the oat milk as the liquid needed to blend everything.
Using the oat milk this way, you can’t even really tell what kind of milk is in the green smoothie, and it turned out just fine; but I am going to stick with the almond milk from now on.

Encores from our Family Christmas get together yesterday. We have our choice of either shrimp and crab stew or chicken and sausage gumbo with potato salad and rolls. And of course way to many dessert choices to even list. :)

    An experiment ...

I had a half cup of canned sauerkraut left over from making meatballs, and a cup of juice from left over from making pickled beets (sugar and vinegar), so I threw them together and let them sit overnight.

Pickled Pink Sauerkraut! :D It was really good, but a half cup was enough. Very intense. The only recipes I could find that were close, started from scratch with raw cabbage.

OH My Babs, they are really delicious , much more tender than pork, or steak... . Fortunately this island has as many f not more sheep than people, so lamb is never a shortage

Is lamb a light tasting meat or a strong one?

I will eat a lamb chop if it’s perfectly done.

Meaning I hate lamb but had a Greek friend who could make anything taste good. Probably the last time I had one.

It’s the mildest tasting part of the sheep in my opinion but @Babs Hunt if you took a bite and nobody told you what it was you’d know it wasn’t pork or beef or chicken.

Except for wild game ....lamb is the only meat I won’t eat unless I have to.
