    I doubt she’s too disappointed....those 3 countries in 7 days doesn’t sound like fun to me...too tiring.

Plus I’m sure she’s been most places...she’s not a spring chicken.

With the time differences and flight times he’s probably doing her a favor.

Yep, I think he fell right into her trap. :D All it took was for her to simply ask him to delay the state of the Union speech until the gov't reopens. Makes him look even more like a child, if that's possible.

The news clip tonight, (ABC World News Tonight), from the look on her face, she wasn't happy about it.
She may not have wanted to go, but she definitely didn't want to be told she couldn't.

Off topic: I don't understand why the president didn't get funding before the power shift.

The reasoning that Pelosi gave for “disinviting” the President from making his SOTU address was a security issue because of the government shutdown.
    Now, think about it.

    1. All of the functions that the president attends are planned well in advance so security is a non-issue.
    2. The trip that Nancy wishes to take is supposedly a thank you tour for our troops overseas which will demand far more security and staff than if she stayed in Washington, D.C. (hypocrisy perhaps?)
    3. She just came back from her vacation in Hawaii where she also needed some security measures which are paid by the taxpayer.
    4. Pelosi wanted to use a military flight for her tour which again, costs the American taxpayer hundreds of thousands of dollars.
    5. The whole tour will cost millions of dollars and staying in Washington will only cost the taxpayer her paycheck.
    6. D. Trump DID NOT say that Pelosi couldn’t go but merely said that she couldn’t use government transportation for the tour. He told her that she had to provide her own transportation and her own security since her reasoning for wishing to cancel SOTU is again, an issue of security.

Now, if the president had said that she also had to fly “standby” and sit in coach instead of 1st class (just like our military people have to do) then I would say that he is being vengeful.

Why should the taxpayers have to pay for her and her groupies to fly all over the place when they are supposed to be here doing their jobs?

I think Nancy and the crew are saying that flying at taxpayer expense is a higher priority than solving the budget issue. How can she and her crew work on the budget if they are relaxing on a beach or flying all over the world? Hypocrisy is defined by these actions, but then with the media mostly on her side, she seems to be able to foll the gullible folks who are her backers. The security would be a bit more extensive at the State of the Union address, simply because the majority of the government is being sheltered, not just the President, but the expense would be no where near as much as protecting a bunch of Congress people flying into foreign capitals and a war zone as the security facilities are already in place. That is why Secret Service expenses for Obama were so much greater than for G. W. Bush; in Bush's case, he went to his ranch, so security could be permanently installed, while Obama would vacation at a different fancy resort every time, as he had no permanent home.

Both sides waste taxpayers money and if you don’t think that you’re in denial.

I have to agree with Sen. Ted Cruz. Pelosi simply doesn’t want the President to speak directly to the American people.
She dodged the negotiating table by going on vacation and wants to dodge it again by going overseas and all of this dodging is costing millions of dollars.
In one very recent episode between Pelosi, Chuckie and D. Trump, Nancy begged for the cameras to be shut off and the reporters leave. Transparency? Not in her life!

A way to save some money.........

"First Lady Melania Trump used a military aircraft on Thursday to fly to Mar-a-Lago, the president's Florida retreat."
    https://www.bbc.com/news/world-us-canada-46924493

    She should have flown commercial...........

    From the same article:
"In the middle of the night, the State Department's Diplomatic Security Service provided an updated threat assessment detailing that the President announcing this sensitive travel had significantly increased the danger to the delegation and to the troops, security, and other officials supporting the trip."

Including allied diplomats and tribal leaders. Oops, a leak, missed the urinal.

You folks do understand we still have a foreign presence and that the Speaker, any Speaker, is third in line of succession, right? Or is there a 'For Sale' sign on our nation's marquee?

Pelosi began the pettiness by canceling the State of the Union address. Of course, the media never consider anything done by a Democrat to be petty, wrong, or even stupid. Rather, they wait for the response and then point at that and scream. Reasonable people would see through the media agenda.

If Pelosi didn't feel safe in the US Capital building because of the government shutdown, her traveling to Afghanistan would be sheer madness, so it seems to be an appropriate response to a petty action. There is also the fact that Democrats show their empathy for unpaid government workers by partying on the beach and going on unnecessary junkets at government expense. An objective media would be pointing to that.

Yes, Melania did take a military flight and as First Lady, why wouldn’t she? Now, let us not forget that she’s not being escorted by her mother and 2 daughters plus 26 personal handlers and added security for all like Michelle constantly did while B. Obama was in office. I do not recall a big media hype about that but it’s just a Trump thing. Ya know, the guy who donates his paycheck and outright owns (not rents for a couple of days costing a few thousand dollars a day) Melanie’s destination.

This Mar-a-Lago thing keeps creeping into the scene for some reason. If Trump went to Camp David say, like everyone else has, he’d have to have a full staff employed just for a couple of day’s visit or for a business meeting. A separate cleaning crew, staff, etc and the taxpayer has to pay for every amenity that the “Camp” can provide.
Trump owns Mar-a-Lago. He pays the taxes, he pays for the staff, the insurance the split on social security for the employees and the utilities not counting the food that the restaurants have to have and yes, the booze that the bars have to have in inventory.
It’s a year around resort and he owns it.
The taxpayer may have to pay for his meals (maybe) and for whoever is meeting him there but we don’t pay for any booze because he doesn’t drink, or any big parties because he doesn’t party that much. He may even write off a lot his and Melania’s amenities on his own A&G or A&P account. Dunno, but it’s a probability.

I think that the money we save by D. Trump going to his own resort and not taking costly vacations more than makes up for military transportation for the First Lady.

The bottom line here is that the President is still sitting at the White House waiting for someone to sit down and negotiate this whole problem but it would seem that everyone who should be there is looking for another party as in, “let’s take a trip somewhere and jam on Uncle Sam!”
If I had the power I’d have fired the lot of them and started over.
