50p per liter makes you realize how much tax you pay, @Terry Page! Glad you are enjoying your trip to the tropics.
Good morning all...on a damp grey drizzly but mild day.... I had a look at your pictures @Terry Page ...some fabulous ones there, but you need to get a little closer to the camera, Hubs is at work today, last day of a 6 day week and he's exhausted, and neck and back even more sore now after the car accident, and unfortunately he can't get to see a doctor out of his work hours . He's only got tomorrow off and despite my pleas to go to A& E tomorrow, all he'll want to do is sleep, before work again on Monday. Rock and a hard place for him , I feel sorry for him Have a good day whatever you're doing today folks..in my case, not a lot!
I was still recovering from 36 hours with no sleep there so better far away, the next day was better having bought a pair of local elephant pants
That little dog is just TOO CUTE , @Gloria Mitchell ! ! Poodle has his warm sweater on today and curled up in Bobby’s shirt. The thermometer in the bedroom said 54 in there when I got up this morning, so I was hurrying when I put my clothes on. It is cold outside here, too; but going to warm up a little during the day and then the bottom drops out by tonight. They have already announced that the schools will be closed tomorrow, and probably the arsenal, and a lot of the non-necessary businesses. The weather forecast shows a line of snow coming through, and since they have no way of dealing with even an inch of the white stuff, everything just closes down. Probably no bread or milk in the stores by tonight. This never fails to amaze me. Out in Idaho, where we have deep snow all winter, no one goes to the store to stock up when a storm hits, unless it is supposed to be something really awful. Even when it was so deep that everyone had little flags on the top of the radio antenna to be seen at a crossroads, we all still went about our business as normal. Even though the snow here is never more than an overnight thing, people all rush to the store and stock up like they were going to be stranded in their house for a week. And WHO wants to live on milk and bread, anyway, for heaven’s sake ? ?
After a few days of snow, today was a gloriously sunny..albeit cold day.. so with trusty camera and phone in hand I went off to take some photos locally ... I haven't really been out much this autumn as I usually am, so I was very happy to get out today in the sun .. and also get the week's groceries while I was out too. Seems like everyone is panicking here thinking there will be food shortages if we leave brexit with a No deal, the supermarket had barely anything on the shelves.. particularly staples like Flour, salt, Pasta, Sugar... and there was no fresh veggies at all...even the tin foil and baking sheets were cleared out too... !! Just incredible!! here's a picture or 2 from this afternoon, taken locally ( I took loads) Our nearest restaurant and bar situated on a farm... about 5 minutes away... the canal lock.... almost 6pm now, dark, and just 1 deg C... so I'm glad to be home with a hot cuppa tea...
Let us know, @Holly Saunders. If things get bad, we can express some food to you across the pond! It has been snowing this morning, but stopped a the moment. The bigger storm is supposed to arrive tomorrow. I may have to plow the drive after lunch.
Thanks @Don Alaska , you're too kind, lots of wild smoked salmon & trout will be needed in this house...
Good evening from Phuket, Lisa has been swimming all day while I have been sorting out my tax return, which is due by the 31st It's 80f at the moment having dropped from 90f earlier, we are relaxing on the balcony here after dinner at a roadside restaurant opposite, tomorrow we pick up our second car rental for a drive around the south coast and the rain forest nearby.
@Terry Page ... In your opinion...after all your travels- fish caught wild or even farm raised in these foreign countries are they safe to eat? Reason I ask, over in the US we are advised to stay away from fish from foreign countries because the waters are so nasty.Very hard to find fish not from a foreign source. Just wondered if you ever had site of these fisheries .
Thanks Gloria.. seems like I did it just in time because although the north already has deep snow, we in the south have been let of lightly but we're forecast to get heavy snow from this evening..and temps as low as -11 deg... I'm jealous of @Terry Page and your hot weather...lovely pics , looks like you're having a fab time..
