Good evening from our last night in Phuket we picked up the second rental car today, identical to the first one, though not brand new this time. We drove an hour or so to Phang Nga bay, which is where part of the James Bond movie "The Man With The Golden Gun" was shot, we hired a long tail boat and spent three hours sailing around the islands. The island now called "James Bond Island" has of course become a big tourist attraction, though it is beautiful in it's own right. James Bond Island Some ancient cave paintings in the cliffs Our boat and boatman The original movie scene Our hosts here in Phuket invited us to share dinner with them
Gorgeous, @Terry Page ! Some of those pictures of the rock formations remind me of the rocks and floating islands in the movie , “Avatar”, and the different colors of the rocks is incredibly beautiful. I just love looking at the pictures that you share with us, and envy your ability to travel and see so many different parts of the world.
Morning all on this freezing Thursday..... I know some of you have horrendously cold weather and snow at the moment in the USA and Canada, so if you're in those regions for goodness sakes stay home and stay warm unless you have to go outside. I watched the news and it said in some places it's possible to get frostbite in 10 minutes, so everyone be careful... Here it's freeeezing, (not as bad as some of you).. but it's -5 here and in some places up north it's -14... My poor o/h is working outside for 12 hours today, as he has been for the last 2 weeks.. and despite all his layers and thermals he's really cold, and to top it all their generators have packed up. he's probably going to have to stay overnight in a hotel due to the difficulty of driving home because of the snow tonight and tomorrow.. the woods behind my house, and more heavy snow predicted this afternoon through until tomorrow.. I may have to cancel my PT treatment tomorrow due to being unable to drive in the snow..we don't have winter tyres or chains here, so it's kinda lethal on the roads...
Winter is definitely letting everyone know it is here lately. Here in Louisiana we are having a pretty mild one so far but watching on the News how Winter is affection a lot of other States makes me thankful I do not live in that kind of cold or snow. It also adds to my prayer list those who are living in those states that are getting all that cold and snow...may God keep you all safe and provide whatever you need until this stuff moves on. Have a blessed day everyone.
I guess we are very lucky to be away from all the freezing weather some of you are having, even the UK is having snow I see from your photo @Holly Saunders, we are back next week, so it will be a bit of a shock Stay warm wherever you are ..... Tonight we are in the rainforest at the Khao Sok National Park, staying in a lovely hut built overlooking the river here, it's developed and run by a young Russian couple, who have lived here for some 14 years This afternoon we went canoeing on the river, which was so peaceful. Tomorrow we are going on a longer boat trip on a lake with a cave, I am typing this on the balcony overlooking the river with the sound of cicadas and enjoying the heat of the evening. Here are some photos and videos of our day... The drive to the Homestay The bedroom Feeding the fish The dinner which is the best meal we have had so far and cooked by a Russian The host with her mother who is visiting her at the moment
Wow!! these pictures and the video are just sublime @Terry Page . I've seen probably hundreds of your pictures over the years and I'll stick my neck out and say I think these are the best I've ever seen. BTW what's going on with that HUGE fried egg?
I love all your pictures too @Terry Page....and I love to get to "armchair" travel through those pictures and your posts.
Morning all... It's absolutely freezing today... thick snow overnight. I have to go out later for Physiotherapy, I'm not looking forward to driving in the snow. Hope all of you who have snow and freezing temps can stay home in the warm..
@Terry Page ..someone needs to add an Awesome button on here.. Like- just does not get it when a person is amazed at your photos and trips. Better than National Geographic magazines
