If not----What would you have done different?

If so-----What were the major parts to your planning?

Well, I had planned to have my husband around in retirement (if you want to hear God laugh, tell Him/Her your "plans"). But, that said, the plans we made before he died 13 years ago have served me well in retirement.

"Do You Feel That You Planned Well For Your Retirement?"

Absolutely but you can't plan your state of health, can you?

No, Not as well as I should have. Things have turned out really well for us but I should have started saving for retirement much sooner.

I wish 401k had been around all my working years.

My wife was a much better "planner" before met and since we've been married, because she makes a much better salary than I ever did. A Bachelors Degree is a very nice thing to have! Anyway, even with good planning, changing jobs due to a lay-off or company closing doesn't help with the future.
As for me, a person can only do so much when making only $9 to $10 per hour, with only a high school degree. College and I ended up not getting along.

IOW, in order to have good "planning" and still have a descent lifestyle, "salary" and "longevity" on a job are the key things. There are those that are lucky to have both...…….I sure wasn't!

No matter what you plan...so many things can change those plans. As a Christian I did the best I could in being a wise steward of what God has blessed me with and trusted Him to make the provision for everything I needed at all ages of my life. He's done a fine job of that even now in retirement.

That is so true Gloria. If you or your spose ever have to be in a nursing home your money won't last long.

If I read the advice from 'money sites', we could never have planned enough.
I realize that they want you to use a 'service' for your planning.

You save and plan after you take care of your family.
Hopefully, you can still have something left over after 'life' has it's say.

Lucky that my wife and I agreed on our savings/retirement plan.
After the youngest moved out, we shifted into mega mode putting money away and investing.

Guess we'll see if our plan can see us though.

Yes; absolutely. We are fortunate to have a very comfortable retirement.

No, I never planned on retirement. Always lived life by the seat of my pant. Had I put any planning into retirement
I would have suck a little back each month not in stocks but in a secure low interest savings plan.
As it is and has been, my retirement has not given me everything I wanted but has provided a comfortable
life after retirement. I am fortunate. I don't need anything, I don't want anything, I don't want to go anywhere.
I have enough to live comfortably and satisfy most of my wants. Life is good and if i could I would renew it
just as I do my phone or my tv contract.
