Don't like catsup on fries. For fries like them baked not boiled in oil & like to dip fries in either balsamic vinegar or brown gravy.
I would never spoil the taste and texture of a Fry with Ketchup! ("Catsup" to the more civilized.) A Fry's best friend is Salt! Hal
Good fries don't need catsup, and if they're not good I probably shouldn't be eating them. If I do, however, I'll take the catsup on the side. This is something that I have changed in my life, though. When I was young, I'd splatter it all over the fries.
I wouldn't eat catsup for years. My roommate has never had a drop of catsup in her mouth in her life. I expect she will go to her grave never knowing the fine taste of a good catsup. Our daughter grew up on the stuff, catsup on everything. Roommate always bought Hunt's, probably because it was a few cents cheaper. I had noticed finer restaurants used Heinz's brand Catsup. One day my wife's brother came to visit. He worked for Heinz 57. While all around the dinner table one evening I asked the difference in Heinz 57 catsup and Hunts. As everyone looked on he replied, "Heinz is best, it has less cockroaches." Today I eat catsup and I buy Heinz because its in all the fine restaurants. And I'm a B, I dip.
