    Yes, that's pretty much the only thing to the left of the post.

    Ah, I think I see the problem. Hal, from the looks of the picture (your avatar) which is to the left of your last post, you have your Miracle Ear over your left eye. Uncover your eye and put that thing back in your ear. There, now that you can see, look at the small picture of you to the left of your post and punch it right on the face with your finger (or cursor).
    See? Works right?

    Of course, when you click your own avatar (profile), you won't have the option to Start a Conversation, because we don't want people talking to themselves, even in private.

    Here is another way that might work better for you, @Hal Pollner .
    To start a private conversation, click on the little envelope icon that is to the right of your name at the very top of the page. This will open a little box, and at the bottom right corner, it says “start a new conversation”.
    Click that, and then you an write in the name of the person that you want to message.
    Then you just write the message and click send. Try doing that and see if it works for you ?

    Gee, another rule I wasn’t aware of. Having major conversations with Bob is , well, second nature to me. :)

    Of course, sometimes I just want to have an intelligent conversation.

    @Ken Anderson
    'Cuz if folks began regularly talking to themselves, chances are they'd like it more than posting here!

    I'm not sure what you are referring to, but @Yvonne Smith or @Ken Anderson would be able to answer your question if it's forum related.

    @Louise Miller
    First open your conversations, by clicking on envelope in upper right.
    Find the conversation you want to leave and check the box to the left of title.
    Open "Other Actions" Menu, and click on "Leave Conversation", at the top.
    Check "Accept" or "ignore" future conversations.
    Click on "Leave Conversation".

    You are leaving the conversation. If you decide to ignore future posts, it ends. It is best used for old conversations that have died a natural death, and are piling up.

    I don't think it's actually deleted, but it does disappear from your inbox list.

    Hi Beth - I answered the above this morning - then realised I'd stated the bloomin' obvious so deleted it :p
