Well, you are tuned to the correct media outlet to hear opinions that support your bias. "National Public Radio is properly understood, even by the media, as radio by and for liberals, not the general public." -- From the Media Research Center

This is TRUE, NPR suits me very well. I like and learn so much with their broadcasting and true not great fans of DJT. I'm not a follower of the general public on a lot, and for sure never on Fox when I had tv...

Yeah, I know. It can be painful to hear something that challenges your thinking.

Nevertheless, I listen to NPR and I even watch CNN sometimes, but I think for myself, and I don't drink the Koolaid. CNN really ought to come with a laugh track, though.

I can't believe you stoop to helping CNN's ratings. :p

It's kind of like watching the Onion. It's frustrating, yet sadly amusing at the same time, to realize that there are people who actually believe that nonsense.

Supposedly, Mark Twain made the following remark: If you don't read the newspaper you are uninformed; if you do read the newspaper you are misinformed.
I would rather not know than argues with a person backed by misinformation. The main news media are putting out so many lies. If your sources of knowledge comes from them you are in trouble.

I feel I get the most honest and true news from the 700 Club. I find out more information on that program than from all the others. In fact it's the only reason I watch it. I watch the other programs for local news but can't stand their world news.

No they aren't, but you knew that because you wrote this.
    Quote
"The U.S. companies are choosing to go to China for their cheap labor,"

I'm not going to copy & paste talking points in this article I hope you will take the time to read & learn.

    How a Tariff Works

Nor am I going to copy & paste the talking points in this article.
    https://www.thebalance.com/u-s-china-trade-deficit-causes-effects-and-solutions-3306277

Learning what tariffs are for & why reducing trade imbalance with China is important. As you can see the references I am using are not from conservative sites. Or you can google for yourself what tariffs are for & why reducing trade imbalance in favor of China is important.

If you do read & learn then I hope you would post & provide facts showing why Trump is wrong. I could be wrong in thinking that when asked to respond to a post that challenges liberal thinking, for some reason that doesn't happen. I hope other liberals that post here would respond if Joy Martin doesn't.

But we were recently encouraged NOT to provide facts and links, just opinions. Maybe I misinterpreted.

Why would something be a fact when published by some liberal (or conservative) blog or newspaper, but an opinion when stated by anyone else? Unless you believe that we are dependent upon the Washington Post or CNN to determine facts, then you have as much right to state a fact as they do. I would name a conservative news publication but I can't think of one. I don't think anyone here has a problem with facts, or with supporting links, but if all that someone has is a link to what someone is saying somewhere else, then it's not a discussion. Matt Drudge has done pretty well offering nothing but links to what other people have published, but the Drudge Report isn't a forum.

What Ken was trying to explain, (the same thing that he has said for several years... this is not new) , isn’t that we should not provide a link. He has even asked for links when we are principally quoting an article of some kind.
The part that is frustrating to me, and to most of us, is when there is nothing else besides a link in the thread or the post .

Sometimes, there will be a thread with an ambiguous title (what I saw in the news today, or something like that) and then the whole post has nothing more than the link to the article and nothing else.
First of all, the title should clearly say what the thread is about, so we can know what we are looking at before we even open the thread.
For example, “man pushed off of bus and dies” gives us an idea a lot better than just saying “what I saw in the news today” does.
Then, it is important to add your own thoughts and ideas about the article, not just put in a link (or a video) and post the thread.
Usually, what I try to do is give a synopsis of the article, so people know what it is about before they even look at the link, and then say what I think about this subject.
This way, even if someone does not look at the link, they know what the topic is, and can discuss their ideas compared to what mine were.
Just posting a link , does not give us a discussion with other members of the forum; it only posts information and not an opinion or our own thoughts about the topic.
When I see a post with nothing but a link or a video, and no other content, I seldom ever check the link or watch the video.

I think my post #430 fit the parameters in the link Nancy Hart questioned in her link.

Quoting Joy Martin's post by copying & pasting didn't distort her opinion. Posting links without commenting on the content might be considered cherry picking because those are long & informative. In combination both explain why China & cheap labor are detrimental to America. I didn't express my opinion that I think Pres. Trump is doing what past presidents didn't have the courage to do for fear of fear mongering by the liberal left.

So IMO the liberal left is doing what it does best create fear in those that don't take the time to research the why of Trump's action on tariffs

I'm not going to continue to beat a dead horse, I don't like the escalated prices on basic shoes that we've encountered in the last decade or so, a pair of $25 athletic shoes now about $100, and when Clarks of England shoes went to China I was floored, I loved their shoes but now they come from China.

What has taken place is history and I can't change things and I doubt very much the companies are going back to their marketplaces to manufacturer.

And I'm probably the only one here who has NOT spent their hard earned money on a $500+ smartphone or ipad or whatever they are. No wonder so many are so in debt today.

Enough from me, I do just fine on what I use and have ENOUGH to get thru what's left of my life. Made 8 decades and doing OK for the most part.

Still do some activist work on an issue that really irks me but with others in the battle, we may win the battle this year....we shall see.
