Well, if two vehicles are a must sometimes, that "must" is definitely gone for us for now. Have to be honest, it was nice having two vehicles, but can be expensive as well.

We have four, I drive a '13 Ram 1500, the Missus has a '13 Nissan Juke,we also have a '69 Mercury Marquis for summer time and shows. The fourth is an '89 ex miltary Ram 5quarter which I hestiate to call a vehicle. The box is gone as is the drivers door.and various other parts. It is not roadworthy but works well for hauling fence posts, feed mineral blocks whatever around the property.
We also have a small aluminun fishing boat with a 20hp outboard and a 25' camping trailer.
A '49 Ford 8N, a Mahindra SCUT and a John Deere riding mower.

We just have the 2005 Dodge Durango SLT now, that has 150k on it. It runs very good, for that mileage on it. Also have a 1992 20' Celebrity 200 Cuddy Cabin that has a Mercruiser 5.7L I/O. Engine is a 350. Have had a number of things repaired/replaced since buying it in 2009, including part of the engine. We have hired someone to transport it up to northern Colorado next weekend. From what we've seen at our Dry Storage, nobody here wants a boat that old, whereas in Colorado there'd be no problem selling it (when we decide to).

I think we could make do with one vehicle, but we have two. We bought a Jeep Wrangler to tow behind our motorhome on extended trips so my husband drives that most of the time. I would hate to have that rough-riding thing as our only vehicle. :D

In our old 1997 Dodge RAM 1500, we use to use BG MOA Oil Additive. Bought at local (in Colorado)Dodge/Chrysler Service Area.

Now using Techron Complete Fuel System Clearner and Techron Fuel Injector Cleaner. We've had to have new fuel injectors installed and the fuel system cleaned, but since our Dodge Durango now has a little over 160k miles on it, have to "try" and keep the injectors and the rest of the fuel system clean.

I've read both online mechanic and user reviews and Techron is a very good brand. STP didn't get the best reviews. Lucas and Gumout are also good, like Techron. Lots of folks swear by Marvel, but I just don't know.

As far as an oil treatment, we don't use any...…...yet.

So, do you use any? Some mechanics think they are great, while other mechanics will say "leave them alone" or "don't ruin your engine". Of course, everyone is going to have their own opinion.

We only use some kind of gasoline additive in our motorhome and it's generator, since it sits for extended periods. We don't use any in our regular vehicles.

I have been told that the best way to keep things clean is to run a tank of good premium gas every once in a while, as the premiums generally have more detergent additives than regular. Techron is reputed to be the best "outside" fuel cleaner, and most of the rating systems on the quality of the additives are based on how much Techron (Polyetheramine) is in the additive. I have discovered that Mechanic in a Bottle, available online and at Home Depot works wonders on small engines, although I haven't tried it in the larger engines.

We always use Shell Regular, but did try part of a tankful of Shell Plus. It seemed like the 2005 Durango ran somewhat rough after adding the Plus. Never had a "rough running" problem when dumping a bottle of Techron Fuel Injector Cleaner or Fuel System Cleaner into the tank at a fill-up.

Not thinking, we bought two bottles of STP. One for cleaning fuel injectors and the other for the entire system. Didn't use either and took back to Walmart and got the Techron again.

Tbh, I can't see any reason why I should use oil additives. I have my car serviced by the brand's own specialist workshops and I have used any car I've had in rough conditions but have never ever had the slightest problem with the whole car let alone the engine. No breakdown of any sort. No need to add oil between services once a year.
That makes me think that modern synthetic oils like 5W30 or even 0W40 don't need any additives other than those already included. And what's more, I haven't heard of any engine breakdown for the last 30 years due to having used the wrong oil or oil without extra additives, respectively. The only engine breakdown I've heard of was that of a colleague's who hadn't had her car serviced for a long time and had used the cambelt 25000 miles longer than specified.

I don't see any reason to use additives of any kind. We run synthetic in both of our cars, and change at about the 6k mark. We also run mid grade fuel exclusively. The best thing you can do for your engine is make sure your air filter is fresh. A vehicles engine uses ten times as much air as it does gas so it needs to be free flowing.
I have never had an oil related failure in any engine.

Guess this just depends on who a person talks to. There are those that swear Marvel Mystery Oil improved the performance of their high-mileage vehicle. We get our oil changed at the dealership service area and they put in Synthetic Blend.

Sometimes I think it can depend on how many miles is on a vehicle. Ours has almost 161,000. A couple of years ago, we had four fuel injectors changed, because they were cracked.

We can't afford to trade our 2005 Durango in, since we are moving to another state.

I sold my old farm truck when it hit 375,000 miles. I just made sure that the oil was changed on a regular basis. I think that is the key to long-lived vehicles. My current truck is at 190,000 miles and still going. I don't drive as much as I once did, and I did have a plugged injector on this truck. I looked into options and decided on the Lucas based on price and performance. It seemed to have fixed the issue and I have had no problems since. I use no oil additives at all, and the truck is just plain conventional oil. My wife's car uses synthetic and is changed around every 8,000 miles.

Didn't Exxon gas have Techron automatically added at one time? Don't know if it still does.
