Good morning all. It was in the 30's when I woke at 4:30 this morning, and I am enjoying the ease in my breathing. Since birth, always had lung issues, and it's been called so many different things over the years, I'm beginning to think the doctor's are confused. Now it's called COPD.

@Holly Saunders , I feel for you. How much more time before you can retire? The last ten years of my working always felt like forced labor. You can't live without working, but you don't know if you'll survive the work.

@Chrissy Page , How long is your drive in hours? Once you get out of this city, traveling is rather quick. Pickles must think he is a world traveler. Izzy gets scared when I grab for my purse, but at the same time he wants to make sure he going with me.

@Lara Moss , Now that the holidays are past, maybe you can spend more time helping us to come up with enough mischief to satisfy us old codgers.

It's only a 3 hour drive one way, Ina but it bores me and makes me sleepy on the long stretch of 152.

Pickles knows the minute I start packing up the car and tries to hide. My daughter has to put him is the car, if I go to pick him up, he'll snarl at me and even bit me once.

When I go, I psyche him out, I'll have everything loaded in the car and then come back and sit next to him with my iPad and pretend everything is normal. Then when I think he's ready I grab him in one arm, my ipad in the other and off we go, lol.

That nip/bite cost me a tetanus shot and I lied to the dr and said he bit me when I was playing with a toy and his teeth caught my hand. I didn't need her reporting it and all that goes with that.

At first it just looked like a bruise but he did break the skin and by the time I drove home it looked nasty. Had a drs appt next day anyway, she gave me some antibiotic for it and the shot...just in case.

Good morning everyone! It's raining here and will for a couple days. I did all my errands yesterday so I can begin the cleaning. I bought a new vacuum cleaner with some of my Christmas money...what a waste, lol.

But it will be an even bigger waste if I don't use it. :) I hate cleaning and I don't know why my house gets so dusty and dirty when I'm never home plus live by myself. It's Pickles's fault!!

Mischief?, @Ina I. Wonder ? Nothing would please me more but this month will be a month of less time here and more time on ebay trying to make money to pay the rest of my outrageous property tax bill. I paid most of it yesterday but it I still have the remaining to pay off by Feb 2nd. I have retirement investments I could use but I'm trying not to touch that until I have to. Sigh. I should move out. I would make a large chunk of change every year renting it according to a Zillow.com estimate…but getting it ready takes time and money too. Done with my rant :)

Thankfully my daughter pays my property tax or I'd be screwed. Can I use that word on here? Sorry, couldn't think of a better one at the moment.

@Chrissy Page , I have an idea for Pickles. My daughter told me that the dog whisperer has a great idea for pet anxiety which is what Pickles experiences on car trips. Always give him a treat every time he gets into the car and never when he gets out. He'll learn to be focused on the treat and not the trip. It's worth a try.

image.jpg @Lara Moss ....he refuses any treats or food in the car, think he goes into shock. We've tried that and the treat just sits there.

Pickles is very stubborn, I just have to work around it because even after he bit me I still love him.

Good morning all! Sounds like it is cold everywhere! So, no surprise, it is chilly for me, too. On a good note, the sun is shining here in Virginia. Although a bit melancholy because my daughter has gone back to college and the house feels a little empty without here. Of course, she is lucky to be in the warm Florida weather again. The holidays can be such fun to get together with friends and family and yet it can be so stressful to say those goodbyes. Sigh.

Oh, Tom, you have such a way with words, lol. Since I am not up in my home state of Michigan, not feeling that bitter wind chill, but oh I can relate to your description!

Hope your daughter is okay, Ike. I so remember those younger days when I would foolishly wear high heeled boots in those winter months trying to keep up my style fashion sense and fall on a daily basis. Although, sure your daughter was wearing the appropriate apparel, lol.

Woke at 5am and actually waking up now with coffee in bed, before starting the day with the school run, will go out for a walk later with Lisa and the baby.
It was a beautiful sunny day yesterday despite the forecast for heavy cloud, hopefully today will be similar.
It's 7am and 8c and dry so looks promising, have a great day everybody.

Ina I' hope you're breathing is still eased for you these mornings and you're not struggling too much.

In answer to your question, technically I have about 7 years before I retire..but you are so right..it is like forced labour at times...but I think that's only because my health is not as good as it should be this last while, if that was fixed then perhaps work wouldn't feel of such huge magnitude at times.

Anyway...have a a good Day everyone...I'll see you after I've done my shift down the Mines... :D

The wind from the north is less vigorous today, but still administering icy jabs that make the eyes water. I cannot help be amused, though, by the small group of old fellows that sit outside a cafe at the northerly end of our high street. They appear to be indomitable and I am convinced that even if there was an 80 mph gale blowing and a full-scale blizzard, they would still be there as though it were a calm summer's day.
