I don’t know if there’s such a thing as an after life or not. I just don’t know. All we’ve got is the Bible which is certainly suspect. Suspect by the way it was put together, the books chosen an appointed few back in the third century. Suspect because we don’t know who wrote some of these books, suspect (as I understand it ) because all evidence points to a copying or a rewriting of texts from other religions which are similar. The Bible is all we have and without it there is no case at all for an afterlife.

I was raised up to believe the Bible was the Word of God. Or at least a book of books inspired by the Almighty. Now when asked, I say I just don’t know. When my children grew into young teens and asked my opinion, I simply said I don’t know, they would have to make this determination for themselves.

I do not believe God speaks to or interacts with we the people, us humans. I believe most what we have in the Bible and in all our churches are myths. But that is not to say there is no hereafter, or that there is no God, it is merely the Bible version, a version we have been taught so long we are brainwashed to automatically it as truth. A book that has been taken by so called men of God throughout the ages. An easy way for uneducated men or men with little education, to take up the book and proclaim they are ministers of this gospel. Organizations such as the catholic church have a longer history with the scriptures.

Maybe it was a control mechanism. Maybe some spiritual people way back there actually believed what those early writers wrote. I don’t know how it all came together so in our time and before preachers use whatever media is and has been available to wring money from your bank account to their on. TV preachers of all sorts, preachers of prophecy, some good, some not, who have found an easier way to wealth and the good life. Of course it started with tithe. To others, the good pastors who lead their flock week in and week out and do good as they can, they have found an occupation and some may indeed believe.

There may be a hereafter and our souls may all wind up somewhere in an afterlife but it will not be because of any thing we have been taught in church or by some Priest or Minister of the Gospel, or one of these radio or television preachers. There may be a God, I don’t know.

What I do know is strange things have happened. Throughout our history and back in the old countries strange phenomenas have occurred that cannot be explained by modern technology or science. Duke University and a university in England conducted research back in the fifties and early sixties, on many off these psychic phenomena. Are these goings on godly manifestations? Of course we don’t know. All we can do is make judgments and render opinions based on what we believe, leaving me to think on the subject, ‘Is there a hereafter or a God in heaven.’ After all, the Sunday and weekly services of the christian faith do bring comfort and assurances and a sense of well being to those who attend. But is there a God and there a here-after? I really don’t know.

I agree with what you wrote, @Bill Boggs . Religions have been used to control the masses since the first religion began. Fear of burning in eternal hellfire would do that. I remember going to a revival when I was a child and hearing the preacher shouting that if I didn't repent my sins, I was going to burn in eternal hellfire. He gave graphic descriptions of what it would be like. Naturally, I repented and got baptized.

But, and this is a very big but, there have been times in my life that I have been blessed so greatly that I have to believe that the blessings come from Someone. There are too many for it to be sheer coincidence. It gives me hope that when life ends here, there may be something more. That's all I'm going to say for now but I may say more later.

I agree with everything you say there Bill
I believe in the afterlife though due to personal experiences
Some of us are 'blessed' some of us are definitely not, through no fault of the person
Children are abused, which sickens me the most - they are certainly not 'blessed'
You are either lucky in life or - you make your own luck as a form of survival

Your view makes sense to me because nobody really knows for sure....I don't. I give science the edge though because it has some facts.

I think most of us would like to believe when we die we will go to heaven and see our loved ones but I think I can also accept the nothingness that I knew before being born.

I spent two hours and seven minutes trying to pair my wireless
Keyboard with my computer over the past three or four days.
Don't these robot-like pieces of hardware know I'm too darn
busy to waste so much trying to talk them into doing my
bidding. I hate it when things don't work.

I dread reading 'how to' instructions and they just don't make any sense but to the people/person who wrote them:confused:

Some keyboards are only designed for certain computers, tablets or systems.

Yes but I've been using this keyboard for two years. I got it going
but I had already asked my son to get me another which I later
    rescinded.

Not sure what it is in keyboard years but in dog years the thing is 14 years old. Yeah, the little guy inside the keyboard probably has a beard down to his knees and needs glasses so finding his way to the computer to hook up might be a long trek for the guy. :)

You know I thought of something like that, but shruded it off, thinking, "No, I'll cradle
before before this little robot does.;)

    I can't be honest because I don't know but I strongly suspect
a dog's life is at least three dtimes longer than the life of one
of these little keyboards. I suspect three years is good.
