Steve North, amazing you are doing all you do and all those replacements...as I've said I'm a cripple from the 1 replacement I let them do. I live in the city and don't like hard work.

    Joy...
I had both hips replaced as well as both shoulders replaced...
My wife had a knee replaced and an ankle replaced..
We both are out there digging, hauling, pushing, pulling, planting, and doing whatever is necessary to keep up the acreage we have looking very good...
flowers, vegetables, trees, bushes and shrubs almost every year.. Weeding is an ever going job.. it never ends..
The grass needs cutting as well which I do with my tractor..
After all is said and done for the day, now it is time to cook supper...

The last thing that keeps us away is our replacements.. Weather is the main factor..

We have stopped planting trees for this year.. We did 30 of them and so far, all have caught.. I will see in next spring if any didn't make it and replace those that look sick with others..
The land needs grooming, cleaning up, and just general care.. That is where I come in with my tractor and other equipment..
The raised vegetable gardens are all planted and ready for growth.. They required more soil and some fertilizer which came from our composter..
Now, there is some work to be done to the house.. Our upstairs balcony hasn't been stained in years and it looks it.. The downstairs patio which is large also needs some staining especially the floor.. It is 20 feet X 20 feet made from treated wood and has never been stained.. I will be doing both those jobs as soon as the weather warms up a bit..

Just work around here all the time but I don't actually do any exercises.. As long as the weather is good, I am outside working..
If the weather is bad, it is a day off which means total relaxing..
I still have to do all the cooking daily, the food shopping once a week and my fair share of the housework..
Remember, I have had both hips replaced as well as both shoulders replaced..
Absolutely no problem doing any work at all.. Actually, I can add.... no pain at all either..

I was commenting to my wife just yesterday that it is amazing how much less we can do now than when we were in our 30's and 40's. I have been cutting down two dead trees a day, and by the time I get them felled, cut up and stashed, it is about all I can do. When I was younger, I used to do this type of work all day long. I use the treadmill in the winter, but during our long summer days, I get a good bit of exercise just pursuing our lifestyle.

There is an old expression that goes like this.....................
Now that I an getting older, it takes me all day to do what I used to do all day.......

Actually it was ..... It takes me all night to do what I used to do all night........ That was the original statement....

When you think about it, it makes sense as we have slowed down quite a bit....
However we still get things done at a slower pace ....

A modification of that statement goes thusly: What I “once” did all night now takes me all night to do “once”.

In a way, I can easily cast a bit of a rationalization upon it by writing that we older guys are just more attentive and bent on perfection than we used to be. Or.......What we do once perfectly the first time used to take us many times to accomplish once.

Getting things done quickly just doesn’t seem to be the proper approach as we grow older and a good rationalization goes a long, long way to explain that approach.

Years ago, while driving down the road, there was an elderly man, running on the edge. His shirt was off and his chest was sagging.
I saw him again, weeks later on the same road. The change was unbelievable. His chest was muscular. He may have been lifting weights or doing other training also.
That much improvement didn't seem possible at his age. Very inspiring.

The idea that men over 55ish can’t grow muscle mass and women are doomed to ultra sagging breasts is likely a statement made by a bunch of people who are much more comfortable with turning the mirror around and lounging on their sofa. :)

Jack Lalane (1914 - 2011) was still doing 2 hour work-outs at almost 81 years old.
He had worked out his whole life and stayed in shape.

"Probably millions of Americans got up this morning with a cup of coffee, a cigarette and a donut. No wonder they are sick and fouled up." Jack Lalane

    Exercise ????
I have been working like stink out in the fields every day for about 3 to 4 hours...
When I come in, I am totally pooped, stinky, and very dirty.. A shower isn't a luxury but a necessity..
I then make supper, clean up after, and only then can I relax to watch some TV....

I probably exercise more now than I did when I was younger, so far as exercise routines go. However, when I was younger, the regular course of my life involved more movement and the use of muscles. While I wasn't doing exercise routines, which I had always considered boring and time that I could be spending on something interesting, my jobs involved frequent movement and occasional physical challenges and, in between, I was doing things like hiking, climbing rocks, going places with various Boy Scout troops that I was involved with, playing games with my son, fighting fires with the volunteer fire department, and so on. When I was younger, I even had cars that required me to walk a lot. Now, on the rare occasion that I have a flat tire, I don't even change it myself, let alone walking anywhere. I have never played much in the way of sports, but I was more active than I am now. Those are the things that we often place on the backburner, so we have add exercise routines in order to keep from falling apart.
