Sorry, but I'm not sure if you're talking about a DENTAL IMPLANT or some other kind...

It's been two years this month that I had a Cochlear Implant to my left ear only and I am still practicing how to hear and understand. Frankly, it's been a real struggle. I do hearing practice sessions each day . I can hear a little with the right ear because of the hearing aid . I miss music and don't believe I will ever be able to enjoy music again no matter what. I feel I have had a little improvement in understanding conversation in just the past two months and hope that continues to improve.

I am saddened that the implant didn’t work out as expected Lon. Surely, you took on the project knowing that the world would be re-opened to you but it came to naught which, for me would be an extremely difficult thing to take.
Not to compare apples with oranges, I too have some damage due to the turbine engines of the helicopters I was subjected to during my military career but nothing even close to what you are having to endure.

My hopes are that things do get better for you and even more so, I do hope you get to enjoy music once again...........

It'll be 2 years in February since I got my Cochlear. MY last hearing test had me at 85-90% comprehension. I've got another test laster this month. I agree that listening to music is a challenge. My enjoyment of music depends on the medium and type of music.

Hi @Lon Tanner today I got an email from Cochlear about the benefits on-line music training for Cochlear recipients. Did you get the email?

WOW.....I hope the online music training works for both of you!! It's great that the company responded since apparently it was a problem they needed to address.

100,000 Pounds Sterling is $128,000 American.

Yes I know... an obscene amount to be spent on something that doesn't work!!...someone could have had kidney dialyses or something else life-saving with that money!!

The cost was not just for equipment but for the surgical procedures and hospital stay as well.

I wore hearing aids from 1980 to 192 and could hear fairly well. when I discovered I had a Service Connected hearing loss I had the VA provide me with new hearing aids which gave me continued FAIR hearing. My hearing got worse in 2016 and the VA provided surgery for a Cochlear Implant to the left ear and a hearing aid for the right. Now after four years I hear very little and am dependent on a Captioned I Phone. Texting & email for communication. The Implant is a failure and I am awaiting a call from the VA for a Audiology appointment to see if they can make adjustments for me to get some degree of hearing. The Virus thing has put every thing on hold for the time being. I would rather have lost a arm or leg than my hearing. I sorely miss music, both playing & hearing. I will make do however because there is no other option.
