I miss having a pet dog or cat but living in a apartment like I do it's not practical. Management allows any pet under 25 lbs. I am thinking of getting a cat.
I am a dog person since I'm allergic to cat dander and cat boxes. Are you prepared to care for a pet? A cat is fairly low-maintenance but you'll have to take responsibility for the care, feeding, and health (vet visits) for the little guy. The cat box will be a daily cleanup task, too. So think it over and consider what you'll be taking on. I hate it when people are gung-ho about puppies and kittens, and end up dumping the little things because they can't be bothered to take good care of them. The upside is that a pet is a lot of company and will love you whether your teeth are brushed or not.
@Lon Tanner Better than the lady we saw in a CASINO carrying her cat, which was dead, preserved by a Taxidermist, cuddled peacefully in her arms looking straight ahead. At first, I wasn't sure......... Frank
There is a country song you can find online with the title 'If You Only Loved Me Like My Dog'. Sounds funny, but after hearing the words, it all made sense. @Lon Tanner I'm allergic to cats. I actually would like a small dog and have seriously been considering it. But like you, I may end up with a stuffed one.
My BF dog died a few years ago. I tried forever asking her about another dog. She refused. So at Christmas I bought her a mechanical dog, that barks rolls over walks and etc. She loved it...and bring him out at Christmas. Named him Riley
real nice idea and thought, seems to work...a good thing....everyone needs a way of dealing with losses. If it's a mechanical dog, so be it. I'm sure in time she may add to her family.
Reminds me of an old Jonathan Winters and Polly Bergen (I think) movie from 1967. Here is the link to the Wikipedia entry about the play.
We have 2 Dogs, 2 Cats, 2 Birds, and 5 Tortoises. We are well represented in Canines, Felines, Avians, and Reptilians. Harold
