Folks who are interested in Britain, especially Americans, may want to listen to this podcast about Boris Johnson. It is a week or so old, but is about Johnson's becoming Prime Minister:

    Thanks for the post.

Not listened to it all yet.

But the interesting thing that was as stated in the first minutes why the POUTS was given so much power when the English in 1688 had taken that amount of power away from the King.

@Tom Galty I agree! What a backwards move. I like the pomp of royalty, but wouldn't want to be governed by it in any way.

Can you imagine the President being elected and replacing the Speaker of the House, the Majority Leader, and most of the committee chairmen in one move? That is apparently what Mr. Johnson did. It is a rare thing even in British politics, but Johnson wanted his opposition out of the way and may suffer for it later but he wants out of the current Brexit agreement and will go out of the EU cold if that is what it takes to do the people's will.

One major factor is all the people appointed have been elected.

As was said in the clip he appointed some personal enemies but most if not all are pro Brexit.

May was a remainer and so was most of her cabinet and they FIU

    PS

The PM does not have the power to sack the Speaker and nor does the Queen.

    Interesting next 97 days.

    PPS

see Pelosi has stuck nose in after Trump stated he is backing the UK over this

I know he has sacked the remainers and replaced them with pro-Brexit folks. I thought the PM could sack anyone who was in his party, but seldom did it, as he would need their support to stay in office in most cases. Sorry if I am mistaken.

Our country has been drifting along aimlessly for too long. I think Johnson is as fed-up as everyone else, and wants to get things moving. The only way to do that is to get rid of all the ditherers, who want to stop Brexit. Britain needs a strong, decisive government which will do what is right for the country.

In all truth he did not sack any one.

He on being made PM appointed the people he wanted.

One point the present Speaker elected as a Conservative but on made being the Speaker he then cannot vote or make political comments one way or the other(he did on Trumps visit and got his arse kicked)

Isn't replacing someone the same as firing/sacking someone. The result is the same. Nonetheless, I hope he gets your nation on a good course for the future. He appears to be similar in action to Trump, although not perhaps of the same political opinions.

You could say they were moved side ways.

    They are still elected MPs

    Important point.

They are only removed from the Cabinet not from Parliament.
