I met one of the new residents of our Assisted Living home at lunch today. He is a nice friendly 92 year old and a pastPotentate of a Shrine Temple in Los Angeles.

My father and my uncle were Shriners. When I was a kid, people used to come to our house for help getting their children into the Shriner's hospitals.

My father was a Shriner and a Mason, although curiously he talked very little to me about his membership in either of those groups, and became inactive in them once the family relocated.
